Such a great venue for small-medium gigs, it was my second time seeing Inhaler here now. Awesome sound system. Bathrooms were somewhat maintained. Drinks from the bar are definitely not cheap! The bar staff and security staff were lovely though. I will definitely be back for more gigs soon!
Our first time visit to the O2 Academy Leeds proved to be a great experience.nnO2 Academies are great platforms for a wide range of theatre, production and music but especially for artists who are continuing to grow within the world of music entertainment.nnThe O2 Academy Leeds has a capacity of 2300 people spread over the ground floor stalls to the upstairs balcony area. The seating on the balcony is typically unreserved and on a first come first served basis so if you want to be near the front…. Move fast!! The seating front on to the stage is tiered, where the side wings are more single bench style. We managed to get central front row seats on the balcony which gave great views of the stage.nnOur event at The O2 Academy was to see The Struts and Barns Courtney on their Grand Union Tour and this venue was a great place to see both bands.nnThe venue is obviously not huge but it’s certainly big enough to have a crowd that generates a great atmosphere.nnSound and lighting was good, plenty of bars and toilets around each floor level and all staff we encountered was really good.nnLocated quite central to Leeds City Centre there is ample car parking nearby. We parked at The Light Q Park which was a circa 4 minute walk.nnAll in all a great experience at The O2 Academy Leeds.
I’ve been to the o2 academy a few times now, one of my favourite venues for gigs.nnThe smaller stage and venue makes it a much more personal and intimate venue to enjoy the music that you love.nnWe recently visited to see Jake Bugg here and I adored every moment of it.nnThe evening lighting outside looks amazing on the old church building.nnLove the double pints that you buy at the bar, makes it much simpler - rather than going up to the bar when you run out.nnThe light set up, sound and atmosphere is amazing.nnWe’ve got more gigs to look forward to here and can’t wait to return.nnO2 customers do get special treatment with o2 priority as they can join a separate queue to enter, although the o2 priority app wasn’t working properly for me; the security was satisfied I was with o2 and it made switching over to the network that much more worth it!
Plusses: Excellent location. Easy access. Easy to park nearby. Handy queue jump as an o2 customer. Staff are really good. Security are efficient getting people in.nnMinuses: Last couple of times I've been, it's felt like it's been sold to include capacity of the basement rather than just the main auditorium, so the floor has been horrendous. Can't speak for the balcony. Would imagine that has to be better. Sound once you get near the bar or merch stand at the back is awful. Couldn't hear anything the singer said between songs. Looks like all the speakers point into the open floor, so you'd need to be there to stand a chance. Sadly, with all the great acts they have there, I'll be looking at alternate venues in the future using this as a last resort.
Plenty of space to get a decent view. Bars for drinks and toilets. Decent sound system. Just seen Caribou, UNREAL
