It’s a very good one star pub restaurant. It isn’t pretentious and fluffy - good ingredients and decent presentation. Very often one star restaurants try too hard w their cooking, trying to move up. They become neither here nor there, too fluffy as a one star and not good enough for a two star. This restaurant is happy where it is at. They also do their own bakery. Their walnut and raisin bread is great. We often order couple of loaf to take home.
This was my first time at the Nut Tree and a birthday treat for me, and it was lovely. It is a super old pub with good beer, excellent wines, a relaxed ambience and knowledgeable, friendly staff. Then there is the food which is amazing, with home made warm bread, then there is the little tasters to try in-between courses that delight the taste buds and all so yummy.
Really great and cozy place near Oxford. - food was really delicious. I especially liked open lasagna with scallops - wine selection was decent with some unorthodox picks like rose from Lebanon - the staff was friendly and went above and beyond to consider out dietary restrictions - if you plan to go to the place, you need to consider that the whole course will take around 3,5-4h but wait times between courses will be brightened up with great choice of bread -
Lovely restaurant with some nice and unique foods. We had the taster menu and the taste and combination of ingredients are amazing. Not forgetting their different variety of breads too. Little thing that we wish it could be better, the seat we were allocated was too dark. The table gap for some tables are too closed to each other. We feel we were slightly left out by the team at the beginnning. However, Imogen managed to pick up our table and everything was good. Thanks for the lovely dinner.
Leisurely afternoon sampling some excellent dishes, there is a real flair to the cookery and delivered by an enthusiastic front of house team. They happily substituted some items from tasting menu in line with dietary requirements. Unlike many Michelin restaurants, pricing of wine list was not stratospheric. Highly recommend.
We wanted somewhere special to celebrate our wedding anniversary so picked the Nut Tree Inn and their tasting menu. Easy to find and with plenty to find, the staff were courteous and exceptional throughout. One of the highlights was having each of the wines introduced and explained why they had been paired with the dishes. Food is as good as it looks and service was perfect without being overbearing. The only thing lacking is a non-alcoholic drink option to match the wine flight!
Our go to for spoiling ourselves/special treats! We love the nut tree. Have eaten both a la cartè and tasting menu. I have some dietary restrictions and they're always amazing at swapping things around without a fuss. Food is delicious and service is incredibly professional, but without being stiff... All the staff are very friendly.
I have previously eaten here and the food is outstanding, well worthy of its reputation. On this occasion I came in search of a delicious ale in a friendly, cosy, picturesque location. I was not disappointed. The Nut Tree's own ale, brewed by Vale one of my favourite breweries was in perfect condition and I was made to feel extremely welcome by the owners, their staff and also by the customers. Needless to say, I'll be going back.

Lovely birthday dinner here last night. Delicious food & great wine suggestions, a bit out of the ordinary but perfect for each course. Our server, Alfie was great, very friendly & on the detail.
