I completed my teacher training degree in the Sociology Department at NPTC, and it was an incredibly enriching experience. Over the course of the 2022/2023 academic year, I had the opportunity to teach several classes, which significantly helped me develop fantastic teaching skills.nnA key highlight of my time there was the mentorship of Tracy Thomas. Tracy was not only a fantastic mentor but also a great friend. Her guidance, support, and encouragement were invaluable in shaping my teaching journey.nnSince completing my training, I have returned to NPTC as a supply teacher in other departments.nnHope to keep up my connection with the college.
I was an exchange student at NPTC, but this college treated me terribly the whole time I was there. They were often insensitive. They treated me like a guest, not a student. Once, I overheard a staff member say that I was not a student of the college.nI had a classmate who was also an exchange student. She is autistic and has noise sensitivity, so she wore noise-canceling headphones. During a field trip to a very noisy place, a staff member forced her to take them off to listen to what they were saying, even though she was already listening.
College has repeatedly made mistakes. One being not putting my name down to sit an exam even though I had been studying the course for a year, causing me to have to redo the whole course again the next year.nOur main teacher often leaves class for up to 20minutes in that time we are unable to find them when needed, I am aware that sometimes they are teaching 2 classes at once which makes us behind and often unable to find them when needed, because the course I was doing involve a few risks, I feel like we should also be supervised during our practical which we are often not. Tutors cannot be at 2 places at once, this could become a real safety issue. Work often seems rushed and finish times for classes constantly change, often with no warning before hand which makes it a nightmare to plan lifts and travel home.
Frankly, I couldn't tell what portions of the building were old or new. the aethetic maintenance of every building baring the entrance to A block made it look incredibly 70s. Don't even get me started on all of the stains found in the D-block resource room. A fresh coat of paint and a bit of discipline could make this place look much more appealing. Otherwise, it provides a halfway decent avenue of learning. Better than afan anyways.
In 2016 I did an Hnc course in computers.. I was doing quite well, passing the course work and had no reason to withdraw.. Then due to unforseen circumstances i had to withdraw due to health reasons.. I gave the lecturer notice of my withdrawal via email. I assumed he would communicate and withdraw me from course due to my health.. More fool mennWell fast forward to 2018 and I have had a bill through post, from student finance wales for £1100 pounds. Which is amount for the full year of the course. I find it totally unfair/unresonable having only been on course for three months.. I have also said i am willing to pay for first semester ...nnI have tried to resolve this issue for over two months now.. Its a shame ive had to resort to this.. But I just wanted to warn other students to be careful.. Because they will take your money and run.. And dont seem to care especially as I wasnt fit enough due to health reasons to finish course and now I have nothing to show for it but a big bill.nnPlease be careful when thinking of going to neath college there may be better options available..
