Turn up the nostalgia dial!nMy visit here recently transported me back to times of school trips and weekend outings with my parents. Side note, does anyone remember the little cafe close to the castle that sold the most delicious meat pies?nThe Keep is still undergoing a transformation so there was no wish making while dropping pennies in the well. “Snap” the mascot dragon was also tucked away sleeping but the exhibits and art galleries were a joy to view and the dungeon tour was equally enjoyable. If you remember the smell of the well in the Keep you won’t be disappointed. Instantly recognisable in the lower parts of the magnificent building.nWill absolutely be visiting again as soon as the Keep is open.nJust one other thing, maybe check out the prices in the restaurant before you take your hungry family. It’s rather pricey but the food is delicious. But it was over £20.00 for 2 jacket potatoes and drinks. For a large family it could VERY expensive.
What a wonderful place to visit in Norwich. Though the castle was unfortunately closed and due for imminent reopening later this year 2025, it was certainly worth visiting for a deep dive into the history of the city and to explore the collection of intriguing items, from jewellery to Turner paintings, from stuffed animals to all manner of domestic and historical items.nnWell worth trying to get a visit to the basement jail too, with regular tours included as part of the entrance ticket. Big thanks to Sarah who works there, who kindly assisted us getting us onto the tour itself and indeed to all the staff who were so friendly and enthusiastic. That helps for any visit!
The castle was closed for maintenance.nBut the museum has a wide range of collections. The museum also explains the natural history and others history of Norwich.nnStaff is very friendly. She gave me a warm welcome.
I have loved this place since I was small. Was hoping to see more , but it's still limited due to ongoing works. Was great to be back, but it's a shame some horrendously out of control screaming children, who weren't listening to their teachers, were ruining it for the rest of us. I'll be back though and hope for a quieter visit
Lots to see and do, great museum.nUnfortunately the castle itself was closed for restoration and repair so we saw little of the castle itself.nA good way to spend a few hours especially if the weather is not great.
