Went here on Tuesday, a group of 7 for a coffee. Not all of us had arrived. We often frequent different local places for our weekly coffee mornings.nWell, what a rude welcome! A miserable lady wanted to know what we were there for. When we said we had come for a coffee
Had a room at the front so had a view of the park and river. Only thing was the window is single glazed so you did get road noise. They provided an electric fire so if radiator was not on you still had heating. Didn't try the breakfast.nnNote: my room looked identical to the one Ian Hatten has posted pics of - in fact could be same room.
Hotel seemed nice until bed time.nnRight above the boiler room which was very loud, kept making the radiator make funny loud annoying noises all night so got little to no sleep .nBed was uncomfortable and very creaky.nnOn a positive they offered breakfast , rooms were clean and car parking plentiful.
It's old and needs some quality money on it. It seems to be taking the same approach as Ryanair. No early arrivals for your bookings for 2 or late arrivals after 10pm without a £20 charge. The rooms are not very clean, with tissues and an empty beer bottle on the shelf. The walls have been painted around picture frames and mirrors, so I can see the old paint!! Very bizarre as the bathroom was nice and clean apart from the privacy window peeling off. Windows on the inside and outside are full of webs and dead bugs, not double-glazed on the front, so noisy, especially with the local shops. Carpark is free if you're a guest, otherwise it's by the hour. The building is falling apart at the back, and if you enjoy the rooms above the closed pub with old beds. It's another story. It's more expensive than Travelodge or Premier Inn, which are not looking over a river with stolen bikes and people drinking tins of strong beer.nAnd for breakfast, it's not self-serve unless it's toast, which you have to wait for, as it's a domestic 2-toaster. You have a choice of the basics, but if you want an extra sausage or egg, it's a charge of £1 per extra item. It's not the best either.nSo I really will not be staying there again anytime soon, unless there are a lot of changes to improve.
I booked a 2 single bed room two weeks in advance and when it come to booking in the woman behind the desk told me that I booked a 1 double bed. I showed the email to her and she said that was a mistake. After arguing with her I said to my friend that I'll just sleep on the floor. She then said to me you will not get any extra bedding with a real poor attitude. After getting into the room I noticed the bed was very dirty and the towels had stains on them. I noticed throughout my stay that they punish people that stay one night. My team mates who stayed in the hotel had similar problems with the same women on the night. We believe she was the manager. I wouldn't recommend if your having a short stay.
