Northern Roofing recently completed the re-roofing of my parents garage.  Steve came round and surveyed the repairs.   Their quote was very reasonable and prompt.
The work commenced early, much to my parents delight, and the guys that did the job were very helpful in explaining the details of the work; my Dad being an ex-builder!
The work was finished in a very speedy time; it is a very neat job and the site was cleared of all excess waste - they even took some of Dad's old rubbish away.
A very professional job done by a professional company!

Called them out for a quote. Steve from the company came out. Seemed nice guy and confident and trustworthy. Without going on the roof Steve said he was 'certain, mate' that the problem was a leaky lead valley and, after having phoned for the quote three times in spite of Steve saying they would provide it 'in a couple of days', finally quoted £625. Asked repeatedly for them to schedule the work. Again had to chase them three times. Like they did not want my custom. Finally Steve phoned me and I politely explained I was sorry but I was going with someone else because I could not delay any longer. 'Ok, bye', was it. Rude. Got a new roofer out who actually went up to the roof and saw the problem straight away. The valley stopped too short at the top, but what was there was perfectly sound (Steve wanted to scaffold and replace the whole thing). This could not be seen unless one went on to the roof. He added some lead at the top on the spot for £50. He said he was familiar with Northern Roofing and that their rep was that they took on too much work to cope. 

Cavalier and unprofessional.

We used Northern Roofing for our extension and repair of existing roof as they were competitively priced and I felt that they gave the most honest opinion and the best solution to the problem without having to completely re roof the entire extension; which other roofing companies had suggested would be the only fix. 

They came and completed the work promptly and were a fraction of the cost we had been quoted elsewhere. 

We would recommend using Northern Roofing and we will certainly do so again in the future.

I contacted Northern Roofing In Feb 2012 to inspect water leaking from the top of the chimney breast inside our top 2 bedrooms. Steve from Northern Roofing said it was Porous Brick causing this and would re-point the roof, mortar gaps in the chimney breast and apply waterproof sealant. Steve came across as very nice and re-assured me all work was 100% guaranteed and this would cure the problem. The work was carried out a few days later on time and the guys even came back to finish off sealing the roof. Total cost was £90 which was very fair. I was to apply damp seal paint and de-humidify the rooms which I did for 2 weeks solid.

Unfortunately 2 months later the problem came back, I called Steve to fix but he said that I needed to keep the dehumidifier on and re-seal with more damp seal paint. I got suspicious and called another company who found it was fault with an open chimney not capped from next doors terrace. I called Steve about this who said get the other company to do the job. I reminded him his the work was guaranteed and to give my money back but he refused and said he would send someone around the next morning. No-one came round so I called Steve who said he “Forgot because his head was skwiffy from watching the football last night”. Eventually a lad Alex came round and spotted the problem straight away and said it would be approx £160 to cap the chimney and would send the quote through. It took 2 weeks for the quote to come through as I would have to share the costs with my neighbour and the quote was for £300. I asked for the money back for the initial job but Steve has still refused and was very aggressive on the phone saying he’s lost money on this job. Steve said he would do the capping of the chimney for free after I threatened him with legal action. That was 2 weeks ago and in the meantime I got another company PW roofing to do the job for £120, as I couldn’t continue arguing with Steve, the leak with this rainy summer weather was getting much worse. Also I’d lost all trust with this company.

So to conclude, it took Northern Roofing since Feb 2012 to not fix my leak, fail to see an uncapped chimney and I still haven’t given me my money back. Be wary of getting this company to go a big job for you.
