An amazing museum full of interesting artefacts from Fossils right through to Scunthorpe’s steelworks and it is free to enter. The two staff members who were there at the time of my visit were so friendly, helpful and knowledge. The well laid out displays were interesting and enjoyed the nostalgia cabinets and could relate to many of the items. There is also a free carpark. Well worth a visit.
A lovely, small museum showcasing the local history. We loved the variety of different time periods on the ground floor and there is a lift to the upper level as well as stairs. We’ve been a couple of times and been impressed with the quality of the exhibits and the clarity of the explanations. Loved the section on more recent times - lots of reminiscing with Grandma! Look in forward to returning for the living history day in July!
It was such a wonderful museum, and it was lovely to see history from back in the day to post war Britain. I was particularly impressed and humbled by the WW2 re-enactment of the Anderson shelter along with the exhibition on the tragedy in Flixborough 74. Kind staff, and it's always fun to see my era and all we had to enjoy
Deceptively bigger than expected and free!nStaff were welcoming and friendly, explained the exhibitions, and for a bank holiday Monday; it was quieter than expected too.nnLots of exhibitions, lots of interesting information and a lovely little courtyard at the back/side but no cafe; so good for picnics.nnGreat information and some interactive things for kids to get involved in.nnCar park is a little out of the way, but plenty of parking and accessible for all.
An amazing free museum!! I’m autistic and I loved how much sensory interactive stuff there was. My son absolutely loved it as well. One of the best free museums we’ve been to in a long time.
