A beautiful place, amazing for walkers,campers,holidays, weekends away, nights away. Can walk for miles,and Goat fell defenetly worth it for the view and a drink at bottom when finished. If going on ferry always check timings and always double check ferry crossing, its Scotland and the weather changes. Beaches are lovely and clean,lots of shops from cheese shop to Arran Arromatics,gifts for everyone. Plenty places for a picnic, toilets, parking. Ps,,,, Do not fall asleep as the tide comes in lol as you can see in one of the pictures, we has to Man up and take a dip lol Relax, walk,play golf, sleep and recharge this place is defenetly worth a visit.
What a beautiful island! The people are absolutely lovely too and they will converse with you too. From the time you step off the boat you feel like you’re in a different country. There is so much to do here, we had 5 days and we still feel like this was just not enough time to do all the things we wants to. We left the boat and headed towards our accommodation; whilst en route I couldn’t believe my eyes there were seals on the beach! Been going to Arran for years and I still love it. Only about 25 miles as the crow flies from my house but I feel like I'm a million miles away when I'm there. There's lots to do and some beautiful places to visit and the mountains are amazing!
Everyone should come here once in their life, with amazing scenery and wildlife, felt like we had arran to ourselves at times when out walking, friendly people,very quiet in February, the co op is open, but bad weather can mean limited stock in the shop,with ferries not running, have visited arran twice love how the seasons change the countryside.
We only spent about five hours on the island and wish we had booked several days. It’s really easy to navigate around, and we recommend the north side of the island, by Lochranza, to explore. Absolutely lovely.
First time visit to Arran. Marvelous place, stayed in Lamlash some four miles to the left of the ferry terminal. Drove around the Isle in half a day, calling at the two whiskey distilleries. Broderick Castle closed until April, but grounds open, maybe a charge.
Lovely cottage, great location and dog friendly the hosts were great.
They have catchy slogan, Scotland in miniature, but it's highly anthropized, a lot of planted spruces, very touristic. Ok, but nothing special imho.
Very nice island its like a mini Scotland all in 1, mountains at the top end flat at the bottom
My favourite place in the world. Great for anyone active or wanting a peaceful getaway. Plenty of activities for everyone. 55 minute is ferry ride from Ardrossan.
