My wife and I had the most wonderful stay in this charming guesthouse in Tynemouth. The proprietor Steven was amazing if I could give him 6 stars for service I would. Our flight was delayed and not only did he contact me but also was quick to pick up to accommodate a late arrival. Even at such a late hour Steven was charming and went over all the features of the room and house rules. We stayed in the Dickens room which is an AMAZING room, a very peaceful and wonderful view of the mouth of the Tyne River. Breakfast is top notch pictured here is the porridge but I also had the pancakes which were as good as any higher class breakfast establishment you could get in the area. Steven if not a chef certainly uses top quality ingredients and you can tell he takes pride in the food. The area around the guest house has pubs open late but this is a seaside city, however the noise was minimal to non-existent. You are also so close to the beach and a wonderful historical site the Tynemouth Priory and Castle. The location of the guesthouse is also near the metro, which can save a lot of money while exploring the Northeast area. I recommend this guesthouse to anyone coming to the Newcastle area. The rooms are clean, attention to detail is second to none, and you even get a daily curly whirly Steven adds to the charm and such a wonderful host helping us with the metro, storing bags, service is 6 stars + Trust me you will not be disappointed in your stay especially if you take the time to interact with the local people. I understand why the breakfast room is filled with thank you cards from prior guests and I plan on sending one myself during Christmas time If you do book here let them know the green haired American says "hi" and I'm still researching those knobs on the doors Nearby activities: Beaches, Historical sites, Lovely beach town and shops. Walkability: Very walkable decently flat for the area. No need to rent a car or use a taxi if you are up to use the metro. Noteworthy details: Enjoy the location and Steven. He is a wealth of knowledge and goes above and beyond to be a wonderful host.
We had a wonderful stay at tynemouth61, the b&b itself is a beautiful old townhouse, the room was small we did go for the cheaper option room but was perfect for the night, with an en-suite and the most comfortable bed! Despite it being a busy bank holiday in the town, the noise was cancelled out well within the room. Breakfast was included and was amazing! The hosts here are both lovely and very attentive, this was our first time in a b&b, it's a much more personal experience than a hotel which made us feel right at home and very welcome. Thank you!
Had an afternoon tea booked, when we arrived there was a note to ring the bell on the door. We were told they were closed due to a staffing issue. But we were asked if we would like to rebook or have a private tea !! It was an anniversary so we asked to stay, service was amazing food was delicious. Would definitely recommend !!
We were given an Afternoon Tea menu where we could choose one sandwich filling described as “chunky” finger sandwiches in white or wholemeal brown from 8 choices which included meat and non meat varieties. A choice of scone cheese or fruit & a choice of cake from 7 different varieties. Beverages included english breakfast tea, fruit or mint teas, or a cafetiere of coffee refills included with the option to upgrade to include prosecco. As we had the deluxe voucher we were also given a small bottle each of prosecco with a prosecco glass. After choosing our options we were presented with a three tier plate stand each of which stood in the middle of the table with our food displayed. We had separate plates and cutlery to use for each course. The food all looked and tasted great and as we had chosen differing items we could try each others from the central tiers giving a bit more variety to the meal. Make sure not to eat too much beforehand – there is plenty of food! We were full after the sandwiches and the scones and the staff kindly wrapped up our cakes in foil and placed them in a small white paper bag so we could bring home to eat later. Booking in advance is advised as they do fill quickly inside 7 tables only, On a nicer day the garden looks lovely and gives another 7 tables outside. A very nice location to come too with family and / or friends for a special occasion or just for tea and cake as all the products are lovely. Highly Recommended!
Unfortunately our room was right at the front overlooking the Main Street. The window had to be open as only air flow. The bathroom shower was very small Then our neighbours decided to have a massive row. No sleep until after 2:00am. The service was delightful as was our breakfast. I would not stay here again. Too noisy.
Welcome hosts and comfortable rooms. The room at the front is really bright at night with a street light right outside and could do with some black out blinds. Apart from that an excellent stay.Rooms: 4/5
What a lovely little tea room! Me and my dog stumbled upon it. It has a garden out the back and dogs are also allowed in the tea room. I had a massive sandwich and a lovely cup of tea. The afternoon teas that other people were having looked amazing! The staff were very helpful, friendly and genuinely nice. Cake was fantastic too. Definitely recommend.
Fantastic accommodation with an excellent host. we stayed in the Collingwood Room which was clean and comfortable and had everything you could need. the room had a balcony which had great views of the Priory, mouth of the Tyne and South Shields. Breakfast was great and plenty of choice. Location was ideal, so close to pubs and restaurants. would highly recommend and will return.
We visited for afternoon tea. All was delicious, especially the cakes! Service was very good. The cafe room and gardens are all well presented. Would thoroughly recommend. Food & drinks: Great cafe with friendly service.
Went for afternoon tea which was delicious and the garden setting was lovely. Staff very attentive and friendly.Service: 5/5
