Amazing little hidden gem, full of secrets and mostly unspoilt by tourism. A small walk of about a kilometer from the closest lay-by where there is roughly room for three cars. Easily accessible by foot however a bit trickier if you have mobility issues, no styles on the way but 3-4 gates, the terrain on the path is uneven but not rocky. Fantastic soft grass is perfect for picnics, just please remember to take your rubbish home, this is a sacred site to some and a peaceful beauty spot to others.
This visit is a must for anyone seeking a blend of nature, history, and tranquility in one beautiful location.Visited onWeekendWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNo
Amazing walk from the roadside up through the woods. Rather muddy in places so good walking boots help. Found nine ladys stones. We used Google maps and followed on to Cork head, views are amazing.Visited onWeekdayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNo
A nice walk from the car to the circle. The paths are well marked and made of sand so easy walking. Dog friendly too.Visited onWeekendWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNo
Lovely place for a walk, kids and dogs loved it but keep an eye out for sheep. perfect place to explore straight from the Barn Farm Campsite too

Oh what a beautiful place to visit it is very tranquil and magical, when you walk in the forest one moss is so soft under your feet it feels like you're walking on clouds. We got in through the little pathway on Lees Road. You would need to drive slowly down the country lanes as the forest is not signposted and very few footpath signs as well. Furthermore you would need to find a suitable place to park so you don't obstruct the already tight country lanes. But this is not hard to find. There are lots of sheep grazing in the fields nearby so if you got doggies that are not good around livestock please keep them on the lead. Once you get to the foresty park you can let them off for a little run but as you go up towards the Nine Ladies you would need to keep them on the lead. Nevertheless it is a wonderful place to visit and I'm happy we did. We will definitely be going back again, maybe with a little picnic next time.
Such a peaceful place! Parked the car about 15 mins walk to the stone circle itself, easy path to follow but muddy on a wet day, so bring your wellies if you're heading out in the rain!!! Once at the stones, there is multiple paths you can take with stunning views all around. The stone circle is in a big open space of green, hard to miss it, as there is also an information board that explains its history. It brings a feeling of being very centered and a sense of calm. It's really beautiful and I would recommend to anyone who is in the area to go and explore. Saw many dog walkers, so dog friendly! My only downside is there isn't any bins as you're walking, only at where you can park your car so if you're planning on a picnic or your dog needs the loo, please take it with you and don't leave any litter!!
My second time to walk to Stanton Moor since we moved to a town in the Derwent Valley. Visiting ancient sites like the Nine Ladies really makes me feel connected and rooted to the land of my ancestors here. My visits also prompt me to reflect on what was lost with the rise of intolerant Christianity.Visited onPublic holidayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNo
