Newport station undertook a major 30M refurbishment between 2007 and 2010. Curr the station has 4 platforms which are managed by transport for Wales.nnAnnouncements are made in both Welsh and English. The ticket office are opens on weekdays between 05.45hrs and 20.00hrs.nnThere are good facilities at the station which include steep free access. This includes acces ramps and a number of 16 person lifts.nnDuring my outbound journey one of the lifts was out of order. Transport for Wales reduced the disruption this caused by placing staff at the bottom, middle and top of the affected lift.nnOther facilities include toilets and convenience / coffee shops.
First time I've ever actually been in the Newport station. All other times, I just passed through on the way to Cardiff. What a well-equipped facility with short distances to walk from stepping off the train to the way out. Multilingual staff with top skills in hospitality.
I visited Newport station while waiting for my train to Bristol. Platforms are in the middle of renovation, which results in a lack of a sitting area. Clean, organised with present staff on platform in case anyone need information
A recently refurbished 4 platform train station that in my opinion will be fine for every day use but buckles under the pressure of international sport matches. Not enough places to buy tickets and not enough entrances to swipe in lead to long wait times. Saying that the station was clean and well signposted with disabled access throughout. Guards on duty were very helpful. Long stay parking changes are very high. £10 for full day.
Honestly where to begin!?!nnMy first trip which included Newport Train Station was the 08:40 train which took me and my best friend to Bath, we were travelling there for the Christmas Market!nnThe station was spotless, you could've eaten your pasty off the floor without any bacterial visitors!nnThe metal handrails were cold enough to remind you that they were still there and they were very solid. A taste test revealed that the handrails had been cleaned with what I could only assume was a very high quality antibacterial virus blocker!nnWhilst waiting at the platform with my best friend we partook in some hot drinks! We had black coffee and white hot chocolate, both were very tasty but for the price I wish we could've had slightly more than 250ml.nnOverall my first experience with Newport Train Station was a roaring success! Since then I have visited the station an additional 2 times, once to go bowling in Cwmbran and the other to go Mini-Golfing in Cardiff.nnIf you haven't yet visited Newport Train Station I urge you to add it to your 2023 bucket list.nnThank you for reading,nnTom
