Newcastle Dance Centre is a dancing dynasty!! - family business established in 1932. We provide classes and individual tuition for children and adults from 3 years - 93 years in many styles of dance, fitness and performing arts ...

It is a family run business which was established in 1932. It is now in the hands of the third generation of the family, along with a large team of talented and enthusiastic teachers.

Classes and private tuition is available from the team of highly qualified and motivated dance teachers, as well as the Principles Michael Conway, Mavis Whiteside and Hayley Conway.

The Principals are extremely experienced in their field of dance and performing arts – some of their credits include:

MAVIS – Is a Fellow, Examiner of the Northern Counties Dance Teachers Association and President for 2000 - 2002. She was undefeated British Old Time Champion and a founding member of the Latin American Advisory Committee of the British Dance Council. Winner of two Carl Alan Awards and has adjudicated at the British and Hong Kong Championships. For many years she has been involved in Musical Theatre work as a vocal coach. She has trained many people to go into the dance profession and into professional work – such as Cheryl Cole, and the current choreographer of Billy Elliot in London West End, Lee Proud.

MICHAEL- is a Fellow, Examiner and President of the Northern Counties Dance Teachers Association; he represents North East on the British Dance Council. He has adjudicated competitions at both amateur and professional level throughout the U.K. and in the Far East.

HAYLEY'S choreography work is extensive and includes television and media work for BBC, ITV, CHANNEL 4 and SKY TV. She has also won a Carl Allan Award for dance. She owns and runs Encore Dance Entertainment Group which provides spectacular dance shows throughout the UK. She also taught Ant and Dec to dance whilst on Byker Grove and during their Pop career!

The Centre used to be known as the Newbegin Dance School and was run by famous North East dance teacher Florence Newbegin along with her husband Jack Whiteside.

Florence was undefeated Professional, British Old Time Champion, National Ballet Champion and trained most of the original professionally qualified dance teachers in this area!
The Dance Centre offers tuition to children from three years old to adults of 103 in Ballroom, Latin, Salsa, Ballet, Tap, Singing, Dance Exercise, Hip Hop, Freestyle Disco and Musical Theatre.
There is no studio in the UK with such qualified and experienced people all under one roof – Newcastle Dance Centre is truly unique!!
