The Castle Keep & Black Gate - Newcastle's most historic buildings - recently reopened following a Heritage Lottery funded regeneration.

Story

Standing on the site of the original 'New Castle' which gave the city its name, the Castle Keep and its medieval gatehouse the Black Gate are open daily and host a range of special events.

This was no baron's stately home. The Castle was a grim symbol of royal authority where armies gathered and criminals were imprisoned and executed.

Explore the anicent passageways and chambers; discover the hidden stories of its inhabitants, and take in the impressive views from the rooftop across the city and the River Tyne.

What a dump. Might be OK for a stag/hen do but I still wouldn't guarantee you won't catch something from the disgusting bathroom or the rotten lounge cushions. Dylan, the manager/owner may put a response on here saying that I am mistaken but I'd offer him some advice: spend your time more wisely by fitting some curtains, cleaning the place or painting the grubby walls
A Bit expensive.But nice place to stay, all amenities are equiped. Little noise at night cause of the bar on the ground floor.
