Can't do more than 3 stars. Food was OK if a little on the pricy side. The pie pastry was really nice, not sure if it was made in house though. Environment OK and warm enough - which was nice bearing in mind how cold it was outside. Staff were a bit on the slow side and inattentive. If they dropped the prices a bit and got in some seasoned waiting staff the place would be a magnet.
I booked a table for 8 people for my mum's 70th birthday for a meal and I wasn't disappointed. Friendly attentive staff and the interior of the restaurant was lovely with a nice ambience..A good menu with lots of choice and a good wine list. Very generous portion sizes and beautifully presented. The waitress young blonde girl was just fantastic, very pleasant and helpful and nothing was too much. The prices were good and the quality of the food was good too. We will be definitely returning for family meals.
Visited during a quiet period so no comment on atmosphere. Nice food with good service and friendly staff. Good sized portions Vegetarian options: Not a great selection on menu but told that dishes can be modified.
Went here for dinner with the family last week. We’ve been here a few times. It’s never been my favourite tbh but our last visit confirmed that we won’t be back unless they change things up. The waitresses were all very polite and smiley but the overall service was quite slow, especially when waiting for desserts. The pints of beer were disappointing. My father in-law even asked for another pint because it was flat. My starters fried mushrooms and fried Brie were nice enough but mains were poor. I had the coronation crepe which sounded nice but the chicken inside seemed very processed and not very fresh. I asked with garlic bread but they gave me chips. They admitted their error and gave me garlic bread. My chocolate cake for dessert was drowned in chocolate sauce which was far too much. Others in the party didn’t particularly enjoy their meal either although there were a few that did like theirs. One of the waitresses accidentally dropped a knife on me whilst collecting dishes. Tartare sauce wasn’t provided with my mother in-laws meal which it was meant to. The vegetables looked like the ones you got in school dinners. Overall, the restaurant could do with a wee change up. The restaurant is clean and looks nice but the menu hasn’t changed in about 15 years. The meals are always bog standard or poor.
Small restaurant, food was fine but nothing exciting. Salmon didn't have much taste. Not cheap. Parking: Limited small parking lot to rear of restaurant.
The Coronation is a restaurant in a small town called Gorebridge South of Edinburgh. What a gem - great food at reasonable prices, lovely, comfortable surroundings especially in the 'conservatory'. Service was excellent, friendly young waitresses and the manager was very attentive. Stayed in the town a week and went there twice. Can recommend their 'special' crepe and the starter mussels were super yummy

First time here for us but my Mum has been going for years. Food it really good, surroundings are great and to be honest I can't fault the service! The young guys were polite, explained thd menu and it was a lovely afternoon. It was my Mums Birthady, so pleased she enjoyed it. Nice!
