New Homes Law were the solicitor Countryside Properties wanted me to use for the purchase of a new leasehold apartment.

I feel that New Homes Law did not advise me adequately on the negative impacts of the doubling ground rent clause in my lease, nor of the fact that living in leasehold meant I would have to pay large permission fees for doing things in my own home (like owning a pet, selling my property or letting it out).

Based on my experience I would highly recommend getting your own independent solicitor who is a leasehold expert and not using a builder recommended one, especially for leasehold property.

I have found the National Leasehold Campaign to be an excellent source of information for anyone who has purchased a leasehold property or is looking to purchase one.

Really helpful and good value. Bellway were a bit slow but they were really helpful. I have never bought a house before so I was happy to have there support
