New Headingley Club

About

New Roots is a great night last Friday of every month when we bring you great roots music - and sometimes stuff that's grown from roots

Story

'New Roots' is an updated version of the previous 'Roots' night that has been running since October 2009 ! It is effectively a 'non profit' venture with 90% of door takings going to the acts ...originally intended as a blues/folk night it became apparent that there is a lot more varied fun to be had too, hence the change of name.
List of previous 'Roots' acts (chronologically, 1st time appeared) ... read it you might be surprised ! and thanks to all guests and audiences x
Dave Speight, Shuffle Monsters, Monkey Wrenchers, Waldo's Wizards, Hokum Hotshots, Steve Phillips, Helen Watson Trio, Ray Stubbs & his One Man Blues Band, Bon Appetit, Miranda Arieh, Paul Judge, Manduh Box Band, Duncan McFarlane Band, Brendan Croker, John Gomm, Why and Wherefores, Ash Mandrake, Michael Chapman, Clayton West, Wang Dang Doodle, Serious Sam Barrett, Ewan McLennan, Stevie Williams Most Wanted Band, Rory McLeod, Seafret, Hat Fitz and Cara Robinson, Tantz, Jilly Riley, iFive, Josie Lloyd, Les Scavengers, ( a bit of a rest while 'Tumbleweed' brought Becky Owen, Phillip Cockerham, Annie Keating,John Strong to keep the night going), then back with Devil's Jukebox.
'New Roots' info already on here ! if you want it to continue bring your friends and come regularly - because we need good audiences to pay the artistes what they are truly worth x

Really love this place. Heart of Headingley, superb snooker tables and cheap booze. Unfortunately on the spin side maintenence is poor and can be very cold. Wouldn't take a lot to turn it into a real community hub.
Great facilities, good bar and private car park
Great place for meeting friends and room to hire for parties etc. Open to all..no membership required but if you join £10 yr. 10 % discount on already cheap drinks. Large beer garden.
Been working. Safety measures for covid are in place don't feel at risk. No need to pre book. Come along for a drink.
Reasonably priced to have z private function.
Nice. Had my mums 80th here and they were lovely. I highly recommend. Book it! You will not be disappointed.
The hog roast was phenomenal! Lovely friendly clientele - used to come here to play snooker on a Wednesday night when it used to be the British Legion. Loved it then, an all!
It has a real ale bar, with three snooker tables and a pool table . Also there was a band playing in the downstairs bar I didn't see them but they sounded good from the garden bar it's a shipping container converted into a bar in a large beer garden.
Local friendly pleople, quiet night in the club. Snooker, pool or concert room available to members. Beer prices reasonable too. Bar staff lovely
