What a terrible hotel. This is under new ownership. I believe it's to just sit on it as it is and do bare minimum to the place but to sell it and make a profit on general property rises... I have stayed in hundreds of hotels for my job and this is the second worst one I've stayed in. Funnily enough the worst wasn't too far away in neighbouring Dundee. As for this hotel, the rooms were so tired, stained carpets, no ironing boards, stains on my pillows and mattress cover I couldn't sleep in the bed as didn't trust it so froze all night on top of the bed The bathrooms were bodge job all cladded out instead of tiled and no soaps or creams provided except for one old bottle with hand written sticker saying "shower gel" The hotel overall - corridors leading to the rooms had ripped up carpets full of bad repairs, hotel looks so tired. The breakfast was very amateurish, I don't know what they charge for it but it's worth £1.50 at best. It's a few slices of ham and cheap salami with cheap slices of cheese and croissants wrapped in plastic. Even if the restaurant was open I still wouldn't eat here. I was so glad to check out in the morning. The lady at reception was a nice lady but apart from that I would say my experience was dire. I would NEVER stay at this hotel again. Regards
Lovely looking reception area but that is about as far as it goes. As soon as you walk through to go to the rooms, it's a totally different place. Our room was definitely looking tired. Old furniture and very dated. The bathroom was also needing work like new sealant, new flooring and a decent shower. The "continental" breakfast was a bit of a push. A selection of cereal, a selection of bread, fresh ham, cheese and salami, butter still in the container that everyone dipped into, milk and orange juice still in the bottle that you helped yourself to. The milk and orange juice didn't bother me too much but could have been better presented by being decanted into little jugs that you could help yourself to. Something definitely could have been done about the butter. You don't know where everyone's knives have been. A simple solution to this would have been individual ramekins kept in the fridge. At the time we visited there was no bar or restaurant due to being burgled 1 month prior, or at least that's what we were told by the member of staff on the front desk at check in. We later found out it was due to not having staff to work in it. Unfortunately I wouldn't visit again due to the experience I had.
This hotel is in desperate need of a complete upgrade. The family room wasn't what was shown on the website. The staff gave the impression this was their home and the guests were left to fend for themselves. Breakfast left a lot to be desired. You had to look in chilled cabinets to get cartons of juice, glasses were unclean, staff were getting their breakfast alongside us. My friend and I were the only two people having breakfast! On check out I just left the key on the reception counter as the woman chatted to two other guests away from the desk. There was a single mattress propped up against a wall . I had been to this hotel previously albeit 7 years ago but certainly won't be returning. The only positive was that the location was very good.
What a s**t hole the rooms were dirty lights weren't working probably to save on there electric bill ! There were questionable stains on the beds, walls and floors ! The shower didn't work in the room either not that you would want to shower in it anyway the window was stuck open and rain was pouring in down the wall The breakfast was horrific the choice of toast cereal and yogurts which were all morrisons own brand is not what you expect of a 'hotel' I use that term very loosely we complained to the gent on reception but to be honest he didn't really care as they already had our money the pictures online are not a true representation of the hotel ! AVOID AT ALL COSTS The best thing about the place was the floor mat to wipe your feet on as you leave !
Feel bad for this place, I has potential, however it is run down and not being run well, breakfast was okay as in there was some very badly organised and strange that you have to go to a fridge to get milk and any other cold drink despite breakfast being on for just 2 hours each morning would make far more sense to have everything actually set up. Plus there was no cutlery or cups and a very small selection. The rest of the hotel is in a bad way seriously in need of renovation. Our room was dirty and the carpets and walls warn to the point of my almost falling over a lump in the carpet. I'm also very doubtful that the bedding is actually clean did not smell fresh. But the strangest thing what the manager knocking on our door at midnight with the owner on the phone asking to pay cash of bank transfer even after saying we could pay in the morning
Absolutely disgusted, I request a full refund at the very least. Liked · arrived at the hotel. Corridors and carpets dull and dirty. Room carpet was dirty, dark stains everywhere, large hairball on carpet near bed, we did not want to walk on floor without shoes. Broken window letting in draught room was freezing with no heating. Shower lying in bath broken, not able to attach to wall. Hose broken. Breakfast cold meats on trays covered in foil, butter in fridge for everyone to share. The corridors had lights that would come on after you passed them , having you walking in dark that was dangerous as there was steps. Unable to move as checked and fully booked.
Stayed more than 1 week of this place in B&B basis. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Entrance for the rooms are in fire exit way is the unpleasant thing. Best for the price. If you need more luxurious environment this might not be the place. But providing comfortable staying for affordable price. Washroom are not spacious but clean. The hotel manageress Ms. Carren and housekeeping supervisor Ms. Maggy was very ambiguous to provide comfortable staying for all the guests.
My initial impression was fine. Attractive and not busy. The dining room looked clean and tables well spaced. Good so far. However, going through the fire door to the bedrooms was like a different dimension! Filthy! Torn wallpaper, badly chipped paintwork, dangerously threadbare carpeting on the stairs. Entering the bedroom, I had a double bed and a single bed which I opted to use but discovered the mattress was so old there was a hole! Used the double bed the 2nd night. A bit more comfortable. The actual bedding looked unwashed and all crushed. Had someone slept here before me? Who knows? The en suite looked clean on the surface but the vinyl was filthy behind the handbasin and toilet pan. I was glad I had brought wipes to wipe down surfaces including the TV control, phone, and kettle!! Nightmare hotel. Staff very pleasant but I think the hotel needs to shutdown and deep cleaned at the very least. COVID is still with us!!
Walked in the room and straight back out. Room wasn’t made up and had the bedding, unmade, in a pile on the mattress. The room itself was dirty and not fit for purpose. The carpets were also threadbare. We checked the bathroom and again this was very poorly maintained with a very dated shower which had the chrome plating worn away on the hose and shower head. The hotel badly needs money spent on it. The hotel was cheap but we expected it to be clean enough to sleep in at least. In the corridor, there was a double fire door to a large cupboard with a label stating “fire door keep locked” but these were actually lying open which is obviously a health and safety hazard. The hotel disputed our request for a refund through Booking.com but to be honest we would rather lose out than spend the night there. This is the first review I have ever done but I feel I have to warn other people about this hotel.
Terrible place, dirty, smelly, noisy, not worthy of the name hotel. The room was a mess, no clean sheets, dirty carpets, broken windows and beds. Only one toiletpaper roll, towels were never washed, so they did not absorbe water. A lot of noise, chipped carpet on the stairs... Pictures on websites are correct. No coffee for breakfast, poor service, dirty tables... Dangerous neigbourhood.
