I have just had a phone call from Holly on reception regarding the recommencement of Aqua classes lead by Leisa.nThis young lady is a huge asset to your organisation - face to face or on the phone, always kind, caring and attentive - she is also versatile in that she will jump on the cafeteria counter at a moments notice.nIf she were my Daughter I would be so proud of her.nYesterday - Friday 29th May I enquired about Improver Classes - I spoke to a lovely lady Alison who was so kind and helpful - she introduced me to Jenny who offered me a trial next week - both Ali & Jenny are so good at their roles. I love coming here and as an end note Ali just happens to be the amazing young Holly's Mum
I’m not a local and I’m not even from this area, but the gym has everything you need for a good workout. I was able to train comfortably there and there’s nothing wrong with the place if you don’t have extremely high expectations. For me, it was absolutely great. I also have to praise the staff, amazing attitude, you really feel welcomed and they’re always willing to help. If I get the chance, I’ll definitely come back. Highly recommended!
This gym is a joke. The only thing it has going for it is its location, if you live in thrapston unfortunately it’s the easiest gym to get to, that’s where the positives stop. I’ve been a member for a few years now and the issues are consistent - automatic doors to get in don’t work, air con doesn’t work, always at least two machines out of order, machines are rusty the labels have fallen off, the handles are worn away. The place is filthy, I have never in years seen a staff member cleaning equipment, if you want to do it yourself you often struggle as continually there is either no roll or no spray. No one checks in to see how equipment is being used so often you get young boys playing on the equipment rather than using it. If it was cheap you could forgive some of it but it’s extortionate to be a member.
Expensive, poor quality gym. Scruffy environment. Often grubby. Many machines old and rusty with broken knobs, etc. More expensive and in worse condition than competitors.nnIf you only want to use the pool, there are well-priced membership tiers but no similar option for gym-only use. If you want to use the gym they charge you twice as much, actively ripping you off and discriminating against you.nnWhen I raised this, it took months' of chasing to get weak responses, where they said they'd had this complaint a lot, but their hands were tied, it wasn't them but someone else. Something about a joint venture between the council and private company. As a consumer, I don't care about their internal structures, I just want good treatment and decent value.nnI joined to get some cardio in after an injury stopped me running. The high cost started to bother me after discussing with a friend who only uses the pool. After raising the above issues and failing to get any sign that they were interested in being fair or flexible, cancelled my membership and joined somewhere else.
Ok, a one star review, several years on from my original review.nFirst off, there is absolutely no problem with the staff here, they are generally friendly polite & helpful, however, there is a marked absence with gym staff…. The amount of MALES dropping weights on the floor or letting go of heavy cables and the subsequent crash are among my pet hates, & absolutely nothing is ever done about it.nThe problem is certainly ‘post pandemic’, & associated with the current cost of living crisis. Machines are either invariably rested’ or out of order.nI would also say that IMO, it’s a major Health & Safety breach to keep lights off in the gym on a late February afternoon….nEven the front automatic portal doors have been shut off. These cut-backs need to be reflected in the price of membership.nPersonally, for the money I’m paying per month, the membership isn’t worth it. One star.
