This isn't a visitor's centre in the sense you may be used to at other places - it's incredibly small. There are toilets, and a single room with some displays about the history of the place and nothing more. The displays are quite informative. There is a cafe and pub the other side of the bridge. These were both shut when I visited. The Middlewood way is accessible with pushchair or wheelchair if you use the access slope on the side of the bridge opposite the visitors centre.
Used the restrooms only. Free & clean. P&D car park ~ 40 spaces some by the Visitors Centre, some further up by the canal. Bet this gets busy at weekends and BH weekends. The Boar Pub with 60yds
Great place ,come rain come shine, lovely staff at vistors centre. Most informative centre really great..Andy at Baily's trading post, get yourself a coffee,a tea or a yummy piece of cake.,enjoy a chat with Andy. Then walk it all off along the canal. Enjoy your visit.
great for walking .lots of paths . we go up to lyme park for spot of lunch .
Free entry. It's just one room next to some toilets with information about local mining history on the wall.
Car park can get busy as lots of walkers use it, so plan plenty of time if you plan to park. £1.00 for an hour parking. Good access to Canal and Middlewood Way here. Public toilets available. Small visitors centre.
Very scenic walk, me and the children love Reading all the boat names
£3 all day parking, toilets open and clean, just the job... Get there early. Its popular
Visit on a day when the engines are running for an amazing experience. Visit any other time for lots of local history
A great place to park your car, and have a walk along the canal towpath at anytime of the yea. , The visitor centre wasn't open when I went due to covid 19, so I can't say if it was good or not. But the carpark was handy for my walk to Marple and back. However it isn't lit at all so take care where your walking if you come back late also make sure you have change as it is pay and display.
