It was a fantastic room. We stayed in the most affordable, and it was perfect for us, spacious and beautiful. The restaurant was excellent. The staff was beyond helpful. We arrived later than we wanted. The kitchen was closed, but the team was accommodating and heated our food and delivered it to our room. A bus stop right in front of the hotel with a bus directly to Edinburgh City centre that runs until quite late, which is lovely. It was like staying in a family home.
Good food and service. Pleasant ambience and reasonably priced. What more do you want? The hamburger was superb. Large portion for lunch do did not need my tea which is unusual for me.
Had a family meal there on 25th of Feb. Place was busy but with plenty of room and enough space that groups weren't imposing on eachother.nnMenu was fairly basic, but everyone loved the food and the portions. Service was very pleasant and cheerful, a credit to Hotel.nnHad stayed there a night before last Xmas when stranded in Penicuik and was impressed enough with my breakfast that I recommended the hotel to the family for Maw's 80th. Family were impressed.nnAlso recommend reading up on the special history of the hotel, which explains the strange if you don't know why zebra logo for a Scots hotel.
First class experience. Friendly and welcoming. Really enjoyed the roast dinner and the real ale. Excellent value for money. Returning after a very enjoyable visit a year ago and wasn't disappointed.
Extremely friendly staff! I don’t know if I should say this but the steak pie was better than my granny’s!
