A lovely place to learn about seals and the good work the sanctuary does! Loads more than just seals..... aquarium, penguins, goats, reptiles, rabbits etc. Well kept, clean and tidy and excellent value for moneyVisited onWeekdayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNo
Amazing day out! Me and my girlfriend loved this place. There was so much to Sea ;. The seals feeding is definitely worth a watch, all the seals have personalities, and it's a blast to see them all chasing after the fish! Great facilities gor food and shopping and a great variety of farm animals, reptiles and much more!Visited onWeekdayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNo
Excellent place, which helps injured seals to recover safely. However, they really need a better PA system. The feeding display was brilliant, but the keeper couldn't be heard properly.
Great place that runs on your donations. We weren't sure what to expect, but we loved every minute. The seals at feeding time are funny & it's fun to watch. The staff worked very hard to make sure the animals get fed & everyone has fun. There are goats & one is especially cheeky & you can't forget the lamas & all the other animals. We had a fantastic afternoon. If you get a chance to go, please do & remember to donate if you can.
Interesting place, staff were knowledgeable of the seals and their personalities. Gift shops were well stocked and reasonably priced. It was a shame that we've been affected by the bird flu pandemic here in the UK, as the tropical bird house and butterfly house were closed understandably!
Really loved seeing the baby seals. The aquarium is also great. As it was the start of the season there were not many butterflies or plants to see. Cafe was really reasonably priced. Had lasagne, chips & garlic bread for £6.50. A good way to spend a couple of Hours.
Visited 28/6/23 and it was great fun. First time I’ve seen a feeding there and loved it the seals were so funny and sweet. Loved the little meerkat that was sleeping. The lady working the front desk was lovely and really helpful I remember her from my first visit and she’s always a pleasure to see. It’s great to know all the money goes towards the seals so it’s never a problem buying things there. My partner is curious to know whether the crocodiles eat the fish that are in the enclosure with them though .
Brilliant place to visit with the family especially around feeding time. Proceeds go towards conservation efforts. Great place, been running for decades. Reptile house is a bit dated though, could do with reworking into more bioactive set ups.Visited onWeekdayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNo
This place was amazing. The animals were ALL well looked after. When they fed the Seals, they explained that the adult ones they were feeding could not be released because the had been injured an would not survive, but, they did have young ones they were going to release. Keep up the amazing work all xx
Skegness Seal Sanctury is much more than its name suggests. Yes it is a place of sanctuary for seals but it also houses an aquarium, a reptile house, an aviary, a butterfly house, penguins, goats, alpacas, guinea pigs, a tortoise, terrapins, a restaurant/cafe and of course the obligatory gift shop. There are talks about and feeding of the seals at regular times by those who look after them and clearly love what they do. It is great to see the speed at which some of the seals move to catch fish. The way they are fed is often to get them ready for release into the wild. It is a good reminder that this place is doing great work in looking after and rehabilitating the seals. My visit was just outside of normal season March and so certain things like the butterflies, alpacas and tortoise were missing due to the cold weather. The chickens and turkeys were also missing and the penguins were indoors but this was due to the ongoing issues regarding Avian Influenza. The cafe looks like it is recently done up and boasts a 5 star food hygiene rating. However the rest of the sanctuary is looking rather tired and dated. Sadly improving things would be costly and places like this usually only have enough money just to look after the animals. As such, unless some kind benefactor comes along, I can only see it deteriorating further. Overall it is far better than its name suggests. My family enjoyed it and I would definitely recommend a visit here.
