Well-maintained and staffed with excellent personnel. Convenient for spending a few hours and getting some exercise. Beautiful views, rich in history, and educational. A fantastic bookstore with a wide variety of books available.
A hidden gem of a place! We had an interesting talk when we got into the house from a very knowledgeable volunteer and there was also music in the house too! The first bit of garden is also lovely, the bit further away from the house is a bit less tidy which is a slight shame as the place has so much potential and with the rest of the site we were very pleasantly surprised by how interesting and beautiful it was, having only intended to quickly visit whilst passing nearby.
Great National Trust property to visit if you’re interested in local history. Lots of things to do with kids as well - there is a playground in the gardens and activities during school holidays. Very friendly staff who always make you feel welcome and are very knowledgeable about the history of the hall/area. I definitely recommend!Visited onWeekdayWait timeNo wait

A lovely small Nation Trust building and garden with a lot of history. There's a small shop/second hand book store on site. We didn't see the cafe, I think it was closed on our visit but a quick stroll into the village and there's places to grab a meal or just a coffee there.
A very historic building with links to George Washington. Great story about how it was saved from demolition. Lovely to see the tree planted on the green when Jimmy Carter visited.Visited onWeekdayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNot sure
Came here by chance and was pleased we did. I wasn't aware of the history of the house and the Washington connection. Staff were great in the welcoming and story telling. Worth the small price for a piece of history. Well done National Trust and prior fund raisers on a gem. Definitely worth a visit.Visited onWeekday
I received a warm friendly welcome from the staff as I entered the grounds to this house. The staff gave an introduction to the history of the house and then we were able to wander around the house at our own pace. This house has a long fascinating history, and this includes being the ancestral home of the family of George Washington, the first president of the USA. It is definitely well worth a visit.
We visited Washington Old Hall recently after waiting for it to reopen from Covid. It was certainly worth the wait. My Daughter loved the mouse hunt in the hall itself and the history of the building itself is very interesting indeed. The guide in the house was also very keen to answer any questions too. I have seen on other reviews that people have complained about the grounds but I think they are a perfect balance of Formal and neat at the hall and the wild garden which is still tidy yet perfect for nature. The only downside to the grounds was that the bird feeders never had any food in. Other than that though they were perfect. When we visited they had a mobile making craft day on for children which was free to do. Staff were friendly all throughout the site too. The car parking is on the street outside however there is disabled parking on site if required. There is also toilet facilities on site too. People have complained about the lack of coffee shop on the site. There is some local shops not far away for those that need refreshments. All in a very good place to visit and we will certainly be back!
It was an interesting place to visit, only small, really friendly staff ,Pete at reception was very helpful and gave ideas on how to view the house and Bill the tour guide was funny and very informative. Parking on the street outside the house and disabled in the grounds.
