Wonderful day out! We had a thoroughly enjoyable time of exploring the estate on one of the waymarked routes, before enjoying the quirky house and its history. And in between we had tea and a lovely cheese scone accompanied by peacocks around our feet hoping for crumbs. Very friendly staff who were very happy to explain anything and everything - especially about the house and its contents. Easy parking, with decent and clean toilet facilities. The kids' playground looked good, too! Definitely recommend this place for a day out.
Arrived early and National Trust staff advised on the Bridle path route that runs down alongside the Estate walks and it is a moderate walk of between 1-2 hours. The scenery and sounds of the wildlife through the forest were excellent. The refreshments run out of a takeaway shed and picnic tables on the lawn are great in good weather. Staff were excellent and knowledgeable on the sites history.
Really interesting, we had the talk on how the property had been added to over time and it made sense of it, well worth doing. We also walked around the estate walks some of which is quite steep. The views from House and grounds are amazing. There was a sculpture trail while we were there which was really nice tooVisited onWeekdayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNo
A beautiful old hunting lodge with a rich and diverse history, represented through the many fascinating rooms contained within. The views are to die for, and I'm thankful we visited on such a beautiful day. The Easter setup was delightful, with crochet animals dotted all over the house and grounds. A great place for kids too, with many interactive activities and a room to dress up in Tudor outfits. A good place to wile away a few enjoyable hours.
Was really impressed with this properly. There's loads to see including a fantastic house which feels homely and a nice place to be. The grounds offered great views and are good to walk around. They are quite steep so make sure you are prepared to walk back up the hill.
Absolutely living estate to walk around we done the purple route and some areas were very steep! Nice to see the wildlife and view points. The hunting lodge was amazing loved how open it was beautiful gardens aswell. Dog friendly apart from the house of course. Little advice make sure you are very vigilant when looking for the way markers along the routes as in big fields They can be hard to be seen will be going back again one of my favourites
To me it caused a bit of ambivalent feelings regarding entertaining or not at all. A mixture of modern arts, with a bit of mixture of history and a walkable small garden and park section. I think that it would have the potential to be far more exciting, just someone needs to find the way to make it great. Staff was helpful and they provided good guidance throughout the house.
Beautiful property dating back to the Tudor period with a fascinating and interesting history, complete with peaceful & attractive walled garden, terraces and a pleasant tea pavillion area. In addition to this there are lovely woodland walks with interesting places to discover including folly, carved wood play area, lakeside gardens, summerhouse and picnic area. The volunteers & staff were friendly and with a wealth of knowledge about Newark Park. The interior of the property is set on 3 levels with a mix of formal and informal rooms creating a relaxed homely atmosphere, loved it here!
Newark Park, National Trust. Carpark close to the property. Not the largest property owned, it however is all open to look around. It is very interesting and full of light and some lovely items. It holds interest for all. It has areas where you can sit and share time inside and out. The staff are wonderful. The house is beautiful and sits overlooking the valley. Snack and coffee/ drinks available. Peacocks roam around your tables and surroundings. Plenty of space for children and there is a play area down in the valley by the lake. It's a place to Summer days in the Sun. Autumn walks through many acres of woodland paths that stretch out. The lake was almost dry, it did not take the fact the place and grounds are beautiful. A summer house in the valley is being renovated. Seating for many people by the house and in the valley. Day of visit, their was an exhibition in grounds of sculptures. Well worth a visit. I hope you enjoy my review.
Mixed feelings on this place , enjoyed the visit, but the house over the years seems to have lost its identity. It seems things from other houses have been brought in to fill cabinets . Just found it very different from other homes we have been to. Super views from the windows . We got in the buggy from the stables back to the house, and man told us some very interesting facts on the outside and the grounds. So if you go ask about the history of the grounds , don't want to spoil the story .
