Lovely place to visit. Plenty of interest to find and see around the gardens, whatever the season, and some lovely views to be enjoyed. There seems to be plenty put on for kids during school holidays to keep them occupied too. Plenty of parking, a tea room with fairly limited space inside but plenty of room outside on a dry day. No shop or second hand bookshop that I could see, but the usual high standard of helpfulness from the National Trust staff around the place. An excellent afternoon out! Restrooms: Off the car park, including disabled facilities. Dog-friendliness: Lots of dogs on leads. Picnic area: Plenty of space for picnics throughout the gardens.
This is a beautiful walk and a real gem close to London, we were lucky to have a beautiful late summer morning to explore the beautiful gardens. Very dog friendly and great for little children to explore. And very lucky to have chosen a day with free entry. Highly recommended
Beautiful 18th century landscape garden in Surrey. Perfect for dog walking or family day out. Just 50mins drive away from London, or closer if you live in SW. You can also hop on a train from Waterloo then a bus but you would need to walk 30mins to the park entrance. The park was beautiful, clean, spacious and peaceful. It was lovely to walk around especially with our reactive dog because all dogs need to be on a leash. There’s a big lake with ducks and swans. You can hire a boat as well! I saw there was children events on some of the days. We ended our walk with some yummy Judes ice cream. There’s a cafe there and we also saw people having picnics. It’s such a lovely park to walk around and really relaxing since we didn’t have to worry about any off leash dogs. It was a bit of a pricey day out for us but it was worth it. Definitely considering becoming a National Trust member so we can visit again for free. Dog-friendliness: All dogs needs to be on a leash
Beautiful place, lovely gardens based around a lake. Great for a walk around. Lots of small buildings and areas of interest, particularly liked the grotto. Also has a nice cafe. Worth arriving early on a sunny day as the parking does get full.
Great place to take an active 4-year old child. Plenty to explore at Badger's Basecamp in the woods, and the playground area inspires creative play, particularly the castle and boat! We loved the recent exhibition of sculptures round the lake.
A lovely place with charming walks in the lovely gardens. The original Stately home is now a school and cannot be accessed by NT members. However the remaining grounds are splendid! There is an ancient grass amphitheatre with a terrace overlooking it and the lovely lake. Walks all around the site and interesting birds, including some parakeets in the parkland. The man on Reception couldn't have been more helpful! As ever, a lovely tea shop! Not a huge NT site but large enough to enjoy a pleasant half day. Lots of seating in the grounds too.
An amazing garden and views. Very quiet. Probably the cheapest boat prices, just £12 for 30 minutes for the whole boat.
Beautiful! A lovely location to visit and enjoy. Perfect for walking, picnics, enjoying art installations and taking a boat out on the lake. Lovely cafe and staff are super helpful. Highly recommend
Lovely stroll with boating on Lake. Cafe busy with plenty of water as hot weather. Wished more signage about history of site and house. Playground: Small wooden playground Restrooms: Toilets at entrance including disabled Dog-friendliness: Dogs on leads Picnic area: Plenty of spaces
Been to this place multiple times as local and it's brilliant for walking with your dogs or a stroll to clear the mind. Great views especially mid-summer and snowy winter. Friendly staffs and well maintained throughout the year. Would recommend this place to anyone especially if you have a NT pass. Parking can get busy at peak times but there is additional parking space across the road. Playground: Smallish play area for kids Dog-friendliness: Dogs have to be on leash Picnic area: Plenty of picnic space, just need to watch out for geese and ducks
