Lovely House and Grounds. The day I went there, it was a living history day; however, if you didn't actually have a question, they didn't talk to you. The house itself is beautiful but for £30 I would've like to have seen more rooms, a lot is closed off. The jazz band was great! I would definitely get there early; there's a lot to see!Visited onWeekendWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNo
Beautiful place to visit. Lovely welcome as soon as we arrived from the lady checking our passes. She set the tone for a great visit, and all the other guides, volunteers and staff are so friendly and knowledgeable. They added a lot of happiness to our day. Nice café, and there are plenty of seats outside in the sheltered stable yard. House and gardens are delightful with stunning views over Strangford Lough. Thoroughly enjoyed our day. We took the ferry from Portaferry & walked through the caravan park and round Castle Audley and Castle Ward, the sunken garden is lovely and the views are beautiful. There was a great tea-room too were you can eat inside or out and the staff were really pleasant & helpful, there was also a gift shop, a book shop and stables not sure if horses were resident. If nothing else the walk was a good one, taxing enough but not hard with no steep hills or stiles. Loved it, will definitely be going back at some point.
Was pretty disappointed with the NT with this one, okay so we arrived fairly late in the day around 3pm and were still charged £20 to park and visit the property. However the house was closed, so we went for a walk around the grounds and got back to find the gift shop and tea room closed at 4pm. Would recommend parking near Audley's Castle and save the money that the NT are charging to park at Castle Ward.
Great place for a visit, the house isn't huge and the top and bottom floors aren't open but it has a good history Mary Ward in particular, the grounds have some great walks and scenery, and the wider area is worth exploring too.Visited onWeekendWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNot sure
Great place to visit good coffee shop,Cornish pasties and tray backs among the fare.delicious coffee..place was quiet, good walk around vicinity of house. Beautiful sunken garden. Game of thrones fans have lots to see.
Beautiful castle on the seaside, the trails was astonishing, at the entrance of the trail there were the stables and we went during the summer holiday, there were so many activities for children and the little ones were very much entertained.
Fantastic place with so much to offer for both adults snd children. From informative house tours to playparks, book store, coffee shop and gift shop together with beautiful walks, beautiful garden and thats before Game of Thrones - Winterfell. This is among my top 5 best places to visit in Northern Ireland.Visited onWeekendWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNot sure
An excellent location to visit. You can easily spend a day here with cafe, courtyard and shop as well as extensive walks including a large lake.
