Beautiful views from the top. There's a steep climb if you start at the bottom, but if you don't fancy that you can drive to the top where there's a car park and a nice cafe. Lots of nice woodland in the area with well kept paths. Box Hill is an easily accessible beauty spot in the Surrey Hills, which is a stone's throw from London. Very popular with cyclists too. We went on a Monday and it was fairly quiet. I've heard it can be very busy on the weekend, particularly in nice weather.
There are a variety of paths and routes of different difficulties, scenes and distances which are available in Box Hill, so there will be something for everyone. The landscapes around Box Hill are pretty but not "super wow pretty" at least based on the routes we visited. I am sure there could be other prettier scenes that we missed in this area of national beauty. We went for the Stepping Stones route across the river. It wasn't easy on the knees with the high steps down to the river, and coming back up certainly required a few extra breadths for those of us that are not fit! The cafe is nice, serves simple food and drinks. Plenty of space indoor and outdoor. Overall, definitely worth the visit.
Great location for run away from busy life. An amazing views from the top of the hill. Very good for hiking, cycling, walking the dogs, picnics and just relax in the sun. : Big area to explore for sure! We came across two cafes in the area, which was a plus. The car park is open between 7:30 and 5:00 pm. Definitely recommend it!
Beautiful area. I love coming here whenever the sun is shining, it's a great and challenging walk up the hill and once you reach the top, you're rewarded with stunning views over the Surrey Hills and beyond. It's also just a stone's throw away from London. I recommend everyone should come and experience this hidden gem at least once in their lifetime.
Box Hill is a great place if you enjoy a good trail. Not so steep but not flat. Combination of spectacular views and close forest. Plenty areas for the kids to play around. Great cafe, toilet, food, picnic tables, parking and ice cream van.
Any Austen fan would absolutely appreciate the natural beauty of this space. Many walks - very well signed and with separate leaflets available at the information kiosk-we did the steep but really fun stepping stones one would recommend hiking boots. Car park free for NT members gets very busy at the weekend. Coffee Nd ice-cream at very reasonable price especially when you think how close to London it is. Clean toilets and baby changing facilities.
It was a really nice sunny day and once you're parked at one of the car parks, there is so much to see and do. Make sure you wear good quality walking shoes or wellies. Unfortunately, it was a week after storm Eunice had hit us. The trails were muddy and a few trees were down. But they had been cleared. The other good thing was that there were a lot of people about and this created a good atmosphere. Plan this trip like a hike and take water, food and if need be a walking pole.
A Really Great Place to Enjoy the Very Best of the English Countryside, with Spectacular views, and Ancient Woodland... Lots of Walks, it's a Magical place to visit... Ours was a Superb Spring Day with Stunning Blue skies and Lot's Of Sunshine , this is a National Trust Area and its very Popular... There is Good Parking spaces, but its Extremely popular on days like this , So I would Advise Arrivig Early, thee are other car parks, please Check the Website for prices/ Stay length... The Cafe on Top of the Hill, Opening Hours is 10am -4 pm... Has light Snacks, Sandwiches and Cakes ,ect... Hot Drinks , Soft Drinks , you can sit down inside, and Other Seats, and Benches Available outside..... Please be Aware that this is a Very popular place, and Queues for Drinks and Hot Food, can be a little while 15- 20 minutes but we felt that the Queues were Quite well Managed... Toilets here as Well... As I Said Earlier there are Quite a few Walks Available, something for Everyone...please Check the Website for More details about length of the Walks.... Please Dress Accordingly for the Weather...I DEFINITELY RECOMMEND Walking Boots/ Stout shoes for the Paths/ Tracks through the woods, the can be Quite Muddy and wet... Extremely busy due to a bank holiday. Plenty of car parking, download payment app before going as phone signal can be a problem. Stunning views over the North downs. Plenty of well marked trails, having walked down to the stepping stones it's a fairly steep climb back up to the top. Well worth a visit.
Great place for a long hike, with beautiful views and places to stop and have a picnic. We went there on a weekend, it was not busy at all and the trails were very clearly marked so we could hike without any problem. I would definitely go back!
