More like a 4.5 Had a lovely autumnal day out with my sister and her family. The adventure playground area in the woods looked like a lot of fun for the children. My niece was most excited for the little train ride. We spent a good amount of time in that area then we moved on to the house tour. The house was well-preserved and really interesting to explore. The decor and furnishings were amazing to look at. I loved all the details on the ceilings and walls. Also there was a lot of original art pieces. Anybody with an interest in history would love it in there. We visited the gardens and the orangery which were also lovely. We lastly went to the indoor play area which my niece had lots of fun playing in. Us adults relaxed and enjoyed a coffee in the cafe area whilst she played. They do give you a one hour time limit but it’s more than enough time. Notice for people with prams: most of the place is pram/ wheelchair friendly but the house is not. We had to leave the pushchair outside but my nephew can walk so it was fine. Also in the garden areas you do have to go round to go to the ramps as there are a few steps to get down/ up. It’s also not possible to go into the orangery with a pram.
Absolutely beautiful place, perfect day out. I visited with a 7y old and 4y old. We visited the cafe, bookstore, orangery and adventure playground. We ended up spending a long time in the playground, it was brilliant and the train was a lovely addition! There are so many beautiful spots to sit and have a picnic or watch the deer. We will definitely be back hopefully many more times to explore some more and actually visit the mansion as we ran out of time.
Beautiful place with a fantastic open air park for the kids. And an awsome train which is affordable for everyone. The house is beautiful inside and out. The adjacent gardens wood and lake make fantastic walks. Would recommend for anyone plenty to do and run off some steam. And lots of beautiful areas to explore
Had a lovely visit here which started with a warm welcome and a very tasty lunch! We then had a look around the house which is huge with loads of rooms. The rooms were well presented with loads of original features. There is some lovely gardens which are best viewed in spring or summer. There is also a nice walk around the lakes which is around 3 miles.
Brilliant place and all the staff there were super pleasant! The house was magnificent and the grounds breathtaking. Definitely worth a visit! The maze, orangery and train ride were all cool, but if you have kids the play area was the best bit for them! Some really good and challenging adventure frames.
There is so many things to love about this place. But what stands out for me is their cafe/restaurant which was the estates stables converted into the visitors dining area. It well and truly big , spacious with a lot of individual coves big enough to accommodate large groups of 8-10 . From the building to the garden and grounds there is so much to explore for families, children and people on wheels. If you are lucky to be approached by the free roaming reindeers in the park or even out in the car park count yourself lucky. Keep still and enjoy their presence.
This pace is amazing! We took our 12 Yr old. There's a mini train ride. Acres of climbing apparatus and park equipment. Climbing trees, woodland walks, art, sculptures, acres of beautiful gardens Superbly maintained grasslands for picnics, cafes, and coffee huts. Superbly maintained toilets everywhere. A huge conservatory with amazing planting, A gift shop. You need a full day to see everywhere, and of course the house, we're going again next week
Enjoyed the house and the various buildings surrounding the main house. Beautiful gardens!! Great play areas. We went with a six year old who really enjoyed everything. And, the train ride!Visited onWeekdayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedYes
Excellent day out for families and couples like ourselves. Lovely gardens to walk around with fallow deer to spot and wildlife on the lakes. The Mansion House self tour was great too with National Trust volunteers to ask about the history and heritage.Visited onWeekendWait time1 hr+Reservation recommendedNo
We visited as a stop-off on a long journey for lunch and to run the kids around for a bit. we forgot it was half term so there were a lot of families there, however it never felt crowded at any point. We didn't make it inside the house this time, but made great use of the gardens and adventure playground which is fantastic. The only times it felt too busy was queuing to get refreshments where there was maybe a 10 minute wait to order, but when food came it was great quality and we weren't waiting too long after ordering. Gorgeous scenery on an autumn day. We will 100% be returning for a full day soon!
