Quiet little area perched on the bank of the Menai Strait looking over to Anglesey. One of Bangor’s hidden gems and part of the Wales Coast Path. Nantporth was once a limestone quarry. The Wales Coast Path follows the undulations of the former spoil heaps and the old workings can still be seen if you look carefully amongst the ferns and mosses.
Lovely little walk through the woods and along the Menai Straits to Bangor Pier, some beautiful scenery and a great cup of tea and cake in the Pavilion cafe at the end of Bangor Pier.
I love this reserve, I walked through it today. There's one thing I don't understand, why are so many mature trees being felled? It must be about one hundred. It's awful and really upsetting. Please stop.
