I visited the gurdwara with my 3 children. We ate langer and I washed the dishes. There were small pop bottles and my children took 1 each. I took a pop bottle and a lady said 'your kids have taken a drink so why are you taking a pop bottle'. I said, I am thirsty and i was taking the drink for myself. She then said, no you was going to take the drink bottle home. I replied, how do you know that as I have only just picked up the drink bottle. She kept insisting that I was going to take the bottle home. Another man came over and said a woman had been in the day before and taken some drinks. I feel absolutely heart broken and traumatised that i got accused of stealing a 20p pop bottle. The langer comes from the Guru and the langer is for the sangat. The sevadaars did not reflect the teachings of Sikhism on this occasion. I contacted the Gurdawara today to discuss this further and they hung up on me. People go to the gurdwara to gain knowledge and spiritual peace but I left today worried that the sevadaars have no sikhi in their hearts..how are they going to inspire and reach out to the next generation. This visit has put me off I am more hurt that that my children had to witness this unnecessary incident.

Im a white lady with my son who is mixed white and african.i was asked if i was with an asian man then if i was married and told i could not come kn because i had a child out of marriage.i do not smoke or drink either.my son is 5 and it was a horrible experience for us both.i wanted to educate my son on different religions because there is so much hate in different religions and races i want my son to be brought up to not be the same.wont ever go back to this place again the elders here look down on tou because you are a different to them tut tut shame in you im sure your god would not aprove
