Great place for audio cassettes! A huge selection, a lot of pop-rock and rock in general, with even more on the first floor, like jazz, Brasilian, soul… nice place too go, definitely. Be sure to include it in your itinerary when digging in London.
The classical selections of vinyl are now housed in three holding boxes - not alphabetical as that would be too much work for the people working there. The two employees just could not be bothered - even to the point of my asking if the vinyl I was purchasing was in OK condition - one of the guys simply threw the album at me for me to check. Pretty poor - and before your flood, I loved shopping there. Too bad....
Bought 2 collectableish CDs for £5 total and very satisfied with purchase. However, the shop is kind of hard to navigate as CDs on the ground floor are hard to scroll through as they are stored a little too high up especially if your only about 5'5" like me. Also, there is really cheap vinyl but they are in pretty bad condition. However, there are more pricey vinyl here and I mean really pricey but it may be worth it if you want to find a hidden gem. There also vinyl that I noticed in the hip-hop section that didn't have the vinyl in the sleeve; I assume they are kept behind the counter and I understand why they would want to do this for security reasons but it puts me off potentially buying as it is just another hassle. All in all, a good shop but as I am not a local, I won't be visiting as it is nothing special as record shops go.
One really friendly member of staff, the other, sullen, unfriendly, monosyllabic. I still spent £85, despite the overall haughty attitude. Good selection of vinyl, some reasonable, some ridiculous prices. I shall return.
Went to the shop a couple of days ago contacted the shop prior to coming I had some limited edition signed lp. The staff in the store a very dishonest and untrustworthy felt very disappointing considering how many years I've been going to their store got offered £5 for a album worth over £375 second please be careful when you take anything to this store they will ro. You
The classical basement currently closed is a genuine gem. I've just spoken to the upstairs and they assure me progress IS being made for downstairs, and it will re-open eventually... but no dates as yet. The gentleman advised me to keep an eye on the website for updates. This is good news. I know a lot of people were worrying that it might not happen. Looks like it's still a work in progress. :
Legendary second hand and music exchange store they have a great selection and very knowledgeable staff.
Excellent for dance and stock is correctly priced. Staff ensure you check any non bargain bin buys to avoid getting home anything scratched. Staff are helpful and friendly.
This place is a fantastic spot to explore music especially vinyl. Well organised, its easy to find your jams and then you have to deal with the zombies that work there to check out!
Great, Great record store in Notting Hill. One of The best in London for used Lps and cds. 100% recordmmended
