A great museum and free. Definitely worth a contribution. The museum itself is steeped in history the exhibitions inside are great. A fantastic shop and cafe an excellent place for children aswell. Fully recommended. I will be going again.
You have to remember that you can visit this place for FREE! And for a couple of hours you can find the most wonderful exhibitions which will suit the appetites of the youngest to oldest. We were lucky enough to visit in the last week of the Pompeii exhibit on loan from the tate. What a treat. Such experienced and welcoming guides are dotted around the building. The multi media exhibit about the Romans were captivating. I didn't take many photos - too busy taking it all in. I will come back for sure. Thank you so much to the dedicated team who made our visit so enjoyable.
A bright and up to date place to experience Somerset's history in historic surroundings.nnThere is a lot here to enjoy and for free! donations encouraged.nnIm a nerd for history and enjoyed the detail covering how Somerset wnet from a coral sea with dinosaurs, through ice ages of wooly rhinos, wolves and bears through to more modern timesw with some really lovely and important historical artefacts from roman through to anglo-saxon and the viking periods.i wont spoil it but check out the photos for some examples.nnThere are family areas for a bit more interaction for.children and a mice cafe where you can have a cup of tea outside or in.nnWhen I went there was a Dr Who exhibit and a separate military museum.nnI had a very enjoyable 2 hours or so here.nnParking is available nearby.
Super Museum tucked away in the middle of Taunton, follow road signs. Spread over several floors a real gem on the history of Somerset. The museum is run by volunteers who were extremely helpful, friendly and knowledgeable, Cafe and gift shop. No car park but parking available near Lidl a short walk away. Well worth a visit, free entry but please give a donation.
I went to see the Dr Who artwork exhibition,which was very good, wonderful pictures,also looked at the main museum which was also free but all very informative.
