I have been here before and eaten in and it was lovely but this time was not a good experience. We bought take away and to give them their due it was very busy. We took the food home to eat, it was given to us in a bag, but when we got there we discovered that the pie we had ordered and paid for was missing so my partner had only chips to eat.....the chips were the worst I have ever eaten! To be honest I don't think they even saw the fat to fry in. Very sad to have to eat them. Also my fish had bones in. They did refund the cost of the pie but we went in to collect the money and they weren't very apologetic. I'm afraid I won't be visiting again.
We arrived on Sunday evening and the queue for the takeaway was coming out the door which is always a good sign. We decided to eat in so we took a seat and our order was taken quickly. There was a short delay on the food which was understandable with how busy the takeaway was. It was well worth the wait though the fish was beautifully cooked, white and flakey with a crisp golden batter. The chips were superb as were the mushy peas. The shop even managed to give my wife some scraps which is northerners love but tend to be thrown away down here! All in all great service, lovely food at reasonable prices and we all enjoyed it thoroughly!
Absolutely amazing place. We stumbled across this place and are so glad we did. The seafood basket was delicious As was my husband's cod. All 5 of my kids cleared their plates too. I can not recommended Mr chips highly enough.
Average chippy. Foods look good but doesn’t taste the best. Found several bones in my fish which was a shame as I was enjoying it until then. Combiner place for local hotel I was staying at.
We ate here twice during our 5 day holiday. Great find! Food was delicious and reasonably priced. We were well looked after by Peter who was very professional and attentive. Would definitely recommend
From outside it had the appearance of being very clean and it did not disappoint. We were seated very quickly and ordered cod and chips twice. The food was served almost straight away and I have to say it was comparable to any fish and chips we have ever had and that is saying something believe me. I since been back and the quality was just the same. If you're in Bideford and hungry, try it. You'll be glad you did.
A lovely little chip shop that has a sit down restaurant and very tasty takeaway, all under one roof. It's well placed by the old bridge in Bideford and there is also good parking, just over the road. The staff are always really friendly and the waiting times for a takeaway are always reasonable. Kid-friendliness: In my experience the kids meals are well priced and nicely portioned Parking: Some parking outside and a paid carpark over the road. Wheelchair accessibility: To my knowledge the entrance to both the restaurant and takeaway are level.
Not bad but the batter on my wife's piece of fish was not very crispy or bubbly and as for the battered sausage, well it seemed to have a distinct reaction to batter as there was hardly on it. Apart from that everything was good but not above and beyond. Price was decent though. Parking: Loading bay right outside the shop
I was here on a rainy weekday, out of season. Everything was adequate, not withstanding the current conditions in relation to cost of living etc. I would have no hesitation recomending Mr Chips, the prices were very reasonable and service ok. Just remember this is not fine dining, but it is clean, good quality and well priced
This is one of the best fish and chip shops around, we regularly eat in the restaurant or sit on the quayside with the gulls and watch the world go by, the staff are very friendly and the food is excellent.
