It's an okay place for dessert. Most of the times it's nice food. Always has good presentation. Good seating area to relax. Reasonable in price with other dessert shops in local area. Sometimes their card machine breaks down so good to take cash with you there. Hard to find parking nearby shop though.
After knowing this place for ages I finally got to visit. I was so surprised by the spacious downstairs area, I thought they only had few chairs next to the counter!! We had a latte and macciato- very nice and strong flavours, very smooth as well. Red velvet cake and a New York cheesecake came with a wee strawberry on the side, really tasty and cutely presented! Customer service was lovely ,but had to wait about 20mins for our order ,but the place was very busy so that was ok. We loved how cosy and private the place was, plenty of space between tables and wide comfortable chairs. Its the perfect place to escape from the day and indulge into a smooth coffee and a tasty cake . Ice cream/ milk shakes looked lovely so no doubt they'll be a great treat to cool down in the hot days! Deffinitely coming back . Thank you guys! :
A Motown themed desserts cafe. Came here on a rather quiet Saturday and pick a day with a new staff getting training which made the ordering process excruciating. Ordered a crêpe and Mocha. I don't like too much chocolate and told the waiter that. The crêpe came the way I prefer it, so kudos for that. The coffee cam much much later, 30 minutes after ordering and well after finishing the crêpe. So pretty annoyed considering it wasn't even busy. Though the waiter did provide me with a bottle of water when I sat down, or else there would've been nothing to help wash down the crepe. There's seatings on 2 floors. There's enough room for 2 tables upstairs, but unusable because it was being used to store trays of cutlery, so had to go downstairs. Downstairs the lighting is muted with plenty of seating. Nothing wrong with the furnishing, but a little dated. Some of which were well worn. Also, downstairs the mobile reception is non-existent, so good thing the cafe had WiFi.
Quality deserts, seating down stairs has a cosy atmosphere and the staff are friendly.
This ice cream shop was amazing! Not only were the cakes, brownies, sundaes, and ice cream delicious, the customer service was amazing! The worker was so kind to us and went above and beyond to serve us. If I ever make it back to London, I will definitely be back!
We've been to this cafe twice now and the two experiences have been worlds apart. When we went the first time the service was excellent. The staff were very pleasant and food was good. However our latest visit was anything but good. The person serving us had an attitude as if he was doing us a favour. We were feeling very hot and thirsty after our journey there and it took several requests for water for him to give us any. And even then he was going on about the drinks having water in them! It is safe to say that we will not be going there again which is a shame as the food and price aren't bad.
Really friendly staff, great selection of icecream and cakes - late on a Monday there was a relaxed atmosphere but the place has loads of seat so imagine it can get busy! Downstairs has air con, and a unisex loo. They also offer take away!
This place was a disaster from the word go!!! they couldn't take our order properly and then they brought the order out in a messy state the, they didnt have a wide variety! The owner put the deserts on the table and straight away told us if you're not happy with the desserts we can make them again for you??? - baffling. my cookie dough was meant to be a plain chocolate cookie dough with butterscotch sauce ...came out looking like a triple chocolate burnt biscuit with no sauce and my one scoop of salted caramel ice cream looks like a kulfi milkshake in a cocktail glass???? also he did state "I'm sorry the ice creams melted " then they took payment via my card it went through, he told me I'm sorry it hasn't gone through just as I was about to pay the cash he presented me with a receipt "sorry it's gone through" I really have no words for this place to be honest I should have complained and seeing as though my entire desert was left on the table I should not have had to pay for such rubbish! But we were in a rush to catch our train! this place was absolutely appalling!!! dessert places up north have way better customer service waiter presentation and overall enjoyable experience do not waste your time northerners if you're in the south do not go there completely incompetent! What a terrible terrible experience!! The owner, the service the prices, just a big sham!
I have been a regular customer for a while now and I really enjoy Motown Desserts! Very reasonably priced and the food is delicious. The customer service they provided was excellent and it was a real pleasure to eat at Motown. However, they are very understaffed. During the peak hours, they need like 2 more staff members working thier as they took 15 minutes to make me a Ferrero Rocher Milkshake. In addition, they need to start accepting card payments with Android Pay and Apple Pay. They could also do with a bigger kitchen as the kitchen is too small to meet the demand of customers. I really hope they read this and make improvements because they have a lot of potential and small things like not having a card payment machine is holding them back business wise. Apart from that, they are a really good dessert place and I recommend going there!
They have a decent but not extensive selection of cakes and ice creams. The quality and service is acceptable. The atmosphere is pleasant but nothing special, I was expecting a little more from this cafe given the name and the reviews. It's an option if you're already in the area but I wouldn't seek it out and wasn't left with any compelling reason to go back.
