Wonderful place to visit, lovely walk in the woodland to see the cave and the well, both interesting to look at and learn about. Lots for kids to do as well with the different themes. Parking is available on sight at a cost or there is a cheaper car park over the road, however if a family probably financially better to pay for the car. As a couple felt it was a tad overpriced and we had to pay for the dog too but an enjoyable day out.
I love this place. Since I visited as a kid almost 30 years ago the site has seen some great additions, hot and cold food, great coffee, ice cream, plenty of sheltered picnic benches to enjoy it all. The children's play area is great and looks brand new. My daughter also enjoyed the many fairy and pirate themed huts and sculptures. The falls, wishing well and cave itself are very well presented and maintained still. We intend to return for the Halloween and Christmas festive events. Toilet facilities seem fine, we found a toilet building at the main entrance and several portaloos nearer to the eating and play area. The site has a good solid path right up until the steps leading down to the cave and falls. A buggy parking area has been set aside just prior to the steps.
Visited today a great day out for the whole family. Fantastic park for kids, and there are a few places where you can get snacks, drinks, and ice cream. I've been here many times, and it's a wonderful place I even proposed to my wife at the well in 2008. Knaresborough is a beautiful place to visitVisited onWeekdayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedYes
Great venue to visit you are into witchy history and especially if you children the Peter pan theme they had going at the time of visit was very well organised and enjoyed by all the kids. Only a short trip down the well and caves about a mile with 3 sets of steps but is great experience and veiw to see with interesting history. The gift shop is really well priced too
Had an absolutely fantastic visit today. It was our first visit and safe to say we were impressed. The Finding Neverland event was on which was interesting. Must comment that both Captain Hook and Tinkerbell were amazing actors, but Captain Hook really blew us away with his enthusiasm and talent. We really enjoyed ourselves and plan on coming back to more themed events soon. Thank you!
Perfect for all ages, tranquil atmosphere, very palpable to feel. Brings feeling of peace. Great for children, lots to do, seasonal interactive attractions. Beautiful, walk.soft drinks. coffee, cakes, icecreams available. Gift shop. Most important history, of mothershipton, and her blessings.
A magical place! On the love forest walk to the cave a cute mini village with wee shops, good outdoor seating booths, play park the kids loved it. The cave and the calcifying water cave were amazing. I really felt I got to know mother shipton and her life. It was like stepping back in time and imagining her life. There was a souvenir shop with interesting calcified objects some famous people had brought to the cave. A very cool history lesson the children enjoyed. I would totally recommened this site for an interesting visit. I loved it.
We love this place, beautiful waterfalls at the start just after the knaresborough viaduct bridge good space for easy parking, amazing open air space with a big park in the middle greet for kids and adults and even a sand pitt. There's picnic tables throughout a d undercover huts incase its raining. so you can take your own food and enjoy it with your family while the kids play close by. There's always a theme on, and they decorate all the woods with that theme and put on a good show with theatrics and fun. They really go all out and make it so much fun for all the family. It's a lovely walk down to the petrifying well and mother shiptons cave where you can listen to the stories and the fascinating history of the place. There's the wishing well where you can put your hand in the water and make a selfless wish. Do not dry your hand when you remove it from the water. You let it dry naturally so you don't rub away your wish. You can also walk further down to the gift shops, which is fab and so quirky. There are a couple of vans selling ice cream, coffee, etc. The scenery of all of the mother shipton and knaresborough is so picturesque. It's a wonderful day out. I will just say that if you have a bigger car, don't try and fit through the ticket line when you first enter. Pull up to the gates on the right-hand size, and they will let you through there as the ticker lines are so small, and you will scratch your car up. I paid arouns £35 for my car of 5 people. Though we had an under 3 with us, too, making it 6 people. My car is an all space tiguan, 7 seater. Enjoy the fresh air and let the kids run wild. Well done to all the staff that make Mother Shipton so much fun and fascinating. We come all the time!
We came today and loved it. The lost boys and Captain Hook were amazing. We've been before amd enjoyed the experience but the staffs interaction with the kids today was something else. They absolutely loved it and can't wait to come back. The staff at the gate were very welcoming I was early and they came out for chat and gave me all the necessary information for the day. Can't wait to come back. If you haven't had a visit yet, get yourself there
