Great day out to a place that I have always intended to visit. Spur of the moment decision and really pleased we went. Very interesting with live interactive displays and a fantastic rail journey into the mine. Lovely people and very informative. Oh yeah and a beautiful lunch in the local pub. Only disappointment, I forgot to pick up a few bottles of the ale that is brewed on site. Never mind!
Wonderful place to.visit, especially the mine train. We've been twice now with a gap.of.5 years and things have changed. There is a huge soft play area and the mine has been much improved. Lost a star because several of the cottages were closed.
Lovely little diamond hidden in a beautiful location. We had a lovely mean in the pub and a wander round the location. Buttons our Labrador was very welcome. The staff looked fab in their costume's. We only declined the tour as buttons likes to show her best howling off during the talks. Thank you for a lovely dayVisited onWeekdayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNot sure
Me and my husband came here as school children and tried the victorian clothing on so it was great to come back as adults and really enjoy everything morwellham has to offer which is also dog friendly, you can take dogs everywhere on a lead. Everyone was friendly and the guy that lives in the old school bus he's done up was fantastic and let us inside to have a look. There was a classic car show on which was really nice there were couples having old fashioned styled picnics and listening to old music which was wonderful. It's surprising how much there is to see at Morwellham and it's well worth a visit aswell as the pub serving really good food
Honestly a wonderful experience. The amazing, friendly, knowledgable staff. The site is so beautifully maintained and cared for and resides in such a gorgeous location. The activities such as chocolate making and victorian school were so well done and the train ride through a mine was something I didn’t think I’d ever do. They squeezed us in early for a quick tour of the site which was really going the extra mile as they had a school trip in shortly after opening. I couldn’t recommend this place more if you have an interest in history, mines, engineering or anything Victorian. The site is also accessible for people whom may find walking difficult and they have a buggy to drive you up to the mine train as the walk up is quite steep. To sum it up, this is a must see if you’re in Devon!
Wonderful experience exploring the old tin and copper mine. There's a gift shop, Victorian costume, The Chocolate Experience, a visit down a mine. We had a good lunch at the Ship Inn. All the staff are lovely, there's so many things to see and do, a great family day out in west Devon.Visited onWeekday
We had a really nice time at the Quay, easily exceeded expectations. Doing the tour really made the difference, the tour guide Katie? was brilliant and played the strict school teacher role rather too well. The tour lasted about 90 minutes, starting with the option to dress up like Edwardian gentry, which all added to the fun. Had a lovely meal in the Ship Inn, sampling the beer brewed on site. The locally sourced ice cream was delicious. Great value and lovely friendly staff.
It was lovely exploring along the old mine train track and the ruins in the field. So quite though, like a ghost village with all the little shops and museum saying they are open but no one around.Visited onWeekendWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNot sure
Damp and mizzly and the main parts not open. However, we could see this would be a great place to visit once open. We met a couple of ladies who were worked there in the pottery and Ship Inn, very friendly and helpful and they sold us a couple of scrummy ice creams. Well worth a visit when the weather improves.
We had such a lovely day here with children 9 and 12. We got involved in all the acitivites posted ont he blackboard. We stayed from 11 - 4 and really enjoyed it all, a Victorian school lesson, rock breaking for copper, a ride through the mine, chocolate lolly making all included in our ticket. Lovely food at a great price in the pub. Fantastic and friendly staff. cleanest toilets I've ever seen at a public attraction. I definately recommend a visit.
