Ever since our local co-op stopped selling freshly baked farmhouse loaves, the search for an equivalent has been on. Waitrose, too dense, M&S, too far away but so far Mortimers are way ahead of the field. Also you can phone and reserve a loaf
I bought a very fresh, tasty loaf, which was sliced and wrapped in the shop, but was horrified to watch the member of staff who served me using gloved hands to handle the bread....and THEN THE THE MONEY!! what’s the point of wearing the gloves?. C’mon Mortimers. This is totally NOT good enough, especially in the current climate.
Brilliant staff. Really helpful and friendly. Good food.
Asked for a hot sausage roll. What I got was an inedible mix of grease and dog meat. Chucked in the bin. Go elsewhere.
Awful cakes - bad artificial cream, pastry more like damp, stale shortbread and 100% synthetic jam.
Very stale macaroons rock hard if zero was available would rate zero
