Great museum and info upstairs and downstairs is a fantastic shop selling lots of different crafts. Was a great way to spend a couple of hours and I bought my angel for the Christmas treeVisited onWeekendWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNo
Great place to buy hand made jewellery, pottery etc. The second largest contemporary poetry library in the UK and upstairs a fascinating museum of bagpipes. Well worth a visit - small but packed with interest.
A great small museum, fascinating display on the history of bagpipes. The staff at the tourist information were friendly, knowledgable and extremely helpful. We were lucky enough to visit when the Northumbrian Pipers Society were there and managed to hear some wonderful piping!
This is a beautiful building which houses the Bag Pipes museum on the first floor. I was pleased that there was a lift as I am disabled and have missed so many exhibitions elsewhere due to no lift being available. On the first floor you can see the exposed beams. On the ground floor there is the tourist information and a fabulous shop which showcases the work of local artists and a wide variety of different crafts. I found the prices to be good value for money.
Lovely little gift shop with some great items and the Bagpipe museum is fab lots local history.
Museum badly needs updating. It may have won an award in 1987, but I felt that the information was not presented in a logical order, and the text and exhibits within each case contradicted each other. Such a shame.Visited onWeekdayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNo
A must visit, very lovely people.
Wonderful selection of locally made products and reasonably priced too. The Northumbrian shortbread is delicious! Friendly and helpful staff.
Local souvenirs, arts and crafts. Photographs particularly good. Some items overpriced but many are very reasonable. Bagpipe museum is fabulous. History and development of this underrated instrument.
A bright arts centre selling jewellery, paintings, cards, cushions, light shades, nik naks and gew gaws. Some very pretty things set in a pleasant atmosphere.
