Moon and Starfish

We had a few pints, cheap. A plate of food, also cheap. Sent my steak n kidney pudding back as it looked awful, mash should not have a crust! Went for the fish n chips instead which was quite good.

Not very impressed! Visited today, was lovely and sunny so sat outside with our dog. We didn't see the sign about no dogs, but they did let us eat our food. Food arrived with only one set of cutlery, went inside to get some more, was advised they would be bought out. My partner had nearly finished by time my cutlery arrived and my food was stone cold. Everywhere pretty dirty, toilets were not clean and this was around 10.30 in morning . All in all it was very substandard and would not recommend it.

What lovely bar staff, just a shame about the manager. l ordered a medium rare steak but a burnt piece of meat turned up. l thought that maybe l ordered a well done steak by error so i ate it, what a mistake there was so much gristle on it that most of the steak was was inedible . l spotted the manager after l had finished my meal so l showed her the remnants on my plate her reaction surprised me "well you ate most of it " She then asked why l did not complain earlier l said there nobody about to complain to and she was the first person i had seen , her answer was why did l not take it to the bar???? She then offered us a free drink in a very off hand way l replied that i did not want a free drink but just to accept my complaint in a professional way. l informed her that l once owned a restaurant and would not have served up a steak like that , she replied " this is Wetherspoons not a restaurant" By now my wife and l had had enough of her rudeness and asked her to leave our table so we could finish our drinks. She seemed to enjoy having an argument and that was quite bad, we are both pensioners and really did not need her confrontational attitude .l honestly believe she thought l wanted money back or a free drink but that was not our intention at all.

Busy, great atmosphere. Managers deal. Cold beer, hot coffee, excellent staff.

First time we've been. Great staff. was super super busy. but great service. only in the area 3 days. but will be there for breakfast, lunch or dinner 5 star service

Unusually for spoons in recent times, they seemed to have plenty of staff on duty. Food was OK, staff friendly and service good. No complaints.

Only issue I have experienced is that it is a bit dirty, tables always need to be cleaned before you sit down. Staff friendly food good for the price you pay always busy. On this occasion it felt like the air conditioning was on as it was drafty and cold not what you need on a winters day

Love this place. Gr8 location with plenty seating and outdoor seating if required. Often come here as it's central to everything including the Clacton Pier. Lot's to do around here and the meals are quick,hot and tasty and to top it off you usually get a drink with your meal at a cheap price. Win win...this meal was the 6oz burger with bacon and cheese as an extra and Chips.

Another town another spoons. Moon and starfish was good. A great location opposite the Pier. It was Rather busy when I visited but still served quickly. Seating outside and a smoking area as well.
