Monument is a brilliant place to visit in Newcastle upon Tyne and you can sit there enjoy food tea and then there is a metro underground so easy place to get too
Monument station is a hub for the Metro. The Tyne and Wear Metro.nnPlatform 1 takes you to South Shields on the yellow line or South Hylton on the Green line. Both lines going through Gateshead and Pelaw. The green line going through Sunderland on the way to South Hylton.nnPlatform 2 takes you north to Haymarket, Jesmond and then the yellow line goes to the coast, Whitley Bay, Cullercoats, before going through Wallsend, Byker and through to St James. The green line taking you past Kingston Park with it's large Tesco, and through to Airport.nnPlatform 3 is yellow line to Byker, Wallsend, Cullercoats, Whitley Bay, then through Longbenton, South Gosforth and back round to Platform 1 Monument.nnPlatform 4 just goes yellow line to St James.nnThere are ticket machines, escalators, helpful staff, a Sainsbury's.nnThere are steps to Blackett St, Monument itself and to the entrance of the Eldon Square shopping centre.nnMonument is the heart of the city.
It is located in the heart of Necastle City. Most convenient metro station if you would like to reach city center with various entries, shopping comple, entries etc.
Solid station but the transfers could be smoother. Honestly would work better if the part of the yellow line from St. James to Tynemouth was another line and got extended so St. James wasn't the most important orphaned station possible.
I am having the metro lots of times per everyday. It is liked by me mostly. Sometimes homeless which does not tickle fancy of mine. But train moves regardless so good. Lots trainnnI am Jesse Graham
