Platform 2 offers views of the basin. Modern waiting area building has seats for perhaps 20 people and there are toilets. Waiting area somewhat Baltic in winter. No cafe or anything, but two supermarkets right by the station. Not the fault of the railway, but no tea or coffee to be found for a considerable distance. Anyone using the railway in north east Scotland will find themselves hanging around here at some point, waiting for delayed / rescheduled train. Staff are helpful, but not always in the ticket office as they have duties around the station. This station is one of the highlights of Montrose, others being the basin and the harbour.
Nice small clean station, it's a great asset to the town, theres frequent trains to the big city's - what's not to like nnIt might benefit from a coffee machine tho
A modern station building with helpful staff and a waiting room. Excellent views over Montrose Basin. Lifts and stair access to footbridge.
You won't see a better view anywhere than from the bridge, it overlooks the basin, a nature reserve.nTicket machine and ticket office, manned full time.nSeating and toilets inside the waiting area.nAccessible doors and entrance.nThe only reason it doesn't get 5 stars is because although there is a lift to the top of the bridge and Down the other side, once when it was broke it took at least a couple of months before it was working again and to someone with limited mobility it's a very important issue.
A new looking station, clean with facilities. It would be even better if a viewing window, or even just a few slots at varying heights were made in the northbound fence which obscures fantastic views of Montrose Basin and it's wildlife.
