I’ve been coming here over the years whenever I’ve visited England. They added a whole lot more seating in the back garden including a couple of gazebos that you can book. Food was delicious. Staff was super friendly and helpful. They even have blankets that you can borrow when it gets chilly.

I visited THE MOAT today Wednesday 13/7/22 with my wife, Mother-in-law, and we all left  happily in memory with a first class hospitable experience. The staff and manager I will praise first and foremost for their very friendly, warm, charm, kind service. The Inn I have visited before in the past- my memories always a good one; but this Inn with the present day management have taken 'THE MOAT' to a new and higher level. The Inn, still retains its original historic charm. But today has been upgraded and fully modified to the finest decor, floor table chair layout  'SO IMPRESSIVELY SPACIOUS'.  Delighted also to see the Kent links and charm of many wall photos embrace and enchant the visitor. In fact, this Inn is amongst the top best on my list in Kent..... A warm evening visit in its large attractive flowery back garden with the perfect sheltered sun shades over the seating and tables are waiting and ideal for all couples, family and groups of friends to enjoy outside. The food remarkable..BEST EVER LAMB SHANK IVE EATEN TO MY MEMORY. I introduce the Penshurst lamb shank. We visited around 4pm and stayed for at least two enjoyable hours. Definately will return...the Inn itself impressive, the staff wonderful, the food great...I look forward to more on the menu in future. Rating as a top Inn alone -  A1, 10/10. All the best, Chris.

First time we've visited since the new ownership. We weren't disappointed! The new look interior has breathed life back into the building whilst retaining its character and charm. The service was excellent - friendly and helpful. And the food? Oh wow! Absolutely gorgeous! Such a different and varied selection too. I would urge any foodie to go sample The Moat's offerings!

After severely underestimating the quality of the menu. I'm happy to say our group of ladies had a delicious meal here tonight. Friendly helpful staff in a warm social atmosphere.  A good night all round. I personally had the Calamari main and Lemon Cheesecake dessert. Highly recommended

Stopped here as we were driving past and looked nice. Lovely place with a big and spacious garden however that was it. Found service to be rather poor and slow considering they weren't very busy. Ordered some snacks and my wife specifically asked for no onion with her egg sandwich and even though the waitress wrote it down there was still a lot on the plate. Also definitely wouldn't say the bread was fresh so she ended up leaving half of it. The waitress went past a number of times to serve other tables but made no attempt to come to ours. Eventually when someone did come my wife mentioned she was happy and the person said they'd pass it on. Must say they were very apologetic when we left and didn't charge us for my wife's sandwich. Unfortunately this experience has put us off so won't be going back or recommending this place

Amazing atmosphere, the candles made it the perfect place for date night. The food was amazing, definitely taste like its all made in house blue cheese sause with chicken wings AMAZING The service was on point 1st place in a long time i couldn't complain about even if i was nit picking 100% recommend, i will be going back next time in the area.

Very nice pub and beer garden. Stopped for a quick drink. Majority of tables were reserved for Sunday lunch. Obviously very popular place for food.

This place has recently been renovated and refurbished and walking in this was clearly evident. It is the perfect place to go with family and friends and on top of this it is a dog friendly venue.  The food was lovely with all the roast dinners cooked to perfection and in particular the tuna steak burger was amazing ! The service was great with Andre front of house being polite and friendly.  The only thing I would suggest is if the cocktail and food menus be expanded but was impressed and will be returning!  Would recommend to anyone in the area.

Took the family for lunch, superb food and lovely staff. Its really clean and beautifully set out. Lots of space and the outside garden area is outstanding. We had a great experience and will certainly be going back soon.

Beautiful gastro pub. We only shared a few starters but the food was amazing. Good selection of drinks and friendly staff.
