It's a nice pub, staff are very friendly and drinks are a good price. Enjoyed the food there. Remember if you're a gold or above AA member, you can get discount here. Only downside is that the water wheel isn't moving, which is a huge shame. Shout out to the poor girl struggling with a migraine and still working hard.
We stayed here for two nights in Sept. 2022. The accommodation is clean and comfortable in blocks of chalets separate and away from the main building. The room was spacious with en suite, TV and tea making etc. Meals including a good breakfast are available in the main lounge at very reasonable prices There is ample parking and a garden with outdoor seating. It is fair to say there was some plumbing noise at night but overall a very nice stay at reasonable rates.
Really amazing food. Amazing staff. Came here with my children. My youngest loves the gammon. The staff are very helpful as I requested for the gammon mix it up to be put on a normal plate as my child is quite young. Definitely will be back : the pub is very clean and tidy as well. Definitely will recommend to family and friends
Good value, tasty food in a friendly pub. Service with a smile. Steak was great for less than a tenner and cooked to my liking, which I did not expect! The potatoes served with the chicken parmigiana were interesting and not too my taste, but overall great for the price.
Appalling food & sub-standard customer service. I like how every negative review has received a reply indicating they will improve/learn, however this seems to be a standard reply and the same inadequacies still seem to be prevalent. Table booked in advance in person & upon arrival, no booking could be found. After slight delay, was told to choose any table within the conservatory area. Picked table large enough to accommodate our party, after being seated we noticed not just crumbs underneath the table, but actual chucks of food from the previous diners. The table was clean but the floor around the table was covered in food/crumbs from the previous diners. I understand you cannot whip a hoover around whilst other people are eating, but this was unacceptable. After ordering food at the bar, the food arrived in a timely fashion but one of the party was served the incorrect meal, rather than make a fuss as the pub/restaurant is clearly understaffed, they kept what had been served. Unfortunately out of 4 adult meals and 2 children’s meals, I would describe all as being pre-cooked and warmed prior to serving. The children’s meals, inedible! Not expecting master chef cuisine but certainly expecting at minimum food deserving of the costs charged. Overall, very dated premises with over worked staff and poor quality food. Pub was busy so doubt very much that genuine negative feedback will be taken on-board by the powers that be. Generic response pending……..
Family friendly pub. Great food including very reasonable prices. Staff are very polite. Lovely little play area for kids too. Would definitely go back!
I went here last night to watch the football. Extremely friendly staff, including a young gentleman called Ewan who is so pleasant, helpful and enthusiastic in his role. It is so infectious it’s impossible to leave this pub anything but happy.
4 of us went for the first time for a special meal. Mine and the wife's meals were brought out. We had to wait 15 minutes for cutlery. We ate our meals which were like warm. We had both finished our meals when they brought out our friends meals....we went for a meal together. Whilst we were there many other diners were complaining and demanding refunds. First time......and definitely the last!!!
The new management team have really turned the place around, the place feels so much nicer to frequent. The food is great and the staff are more than a delight every time I go. If you're in the area or need a hotel for the night, definitely give the Mill on the Soar a shot. In addition to the great food and drink it's situated in a great place with a good view of the fishing lake. A must visit if you can Rooms: Recently refurbished and look great for their price
Sunday Lunch. Ordered food at the bar and had to wait a long time to get served. Tried to open a tab and this seemed impossible for the till to accept but was "let off" and able to pay before leaving without giving card details. TABLE - at 1 pm on a Sunday the pub was not at all busy but the table had clearly not been cleaned very well. Underneath the vacant table next to us was a lot of food debris including chips and crisps. FOOD - if you like tough brisket, overcooked veg, gravy made from granules, mash that tastes like it came out of a packet all served on a not very warm plate then this is the place for you. We did not eat anywhere near the whole of our food. I can cook and if I had serves up those plates I would have been embarrassed. PAYING - My wife hates me making a fuss at these places and she was paying so I had to keep quiet and let her pay in full. She has a Blue Light discount card which was refused and she was told that she would have to get a code from the app on her phone which would not work Blue Lights fault I believe. WHAT WE LEARNED - the other local places we tried to book for this lunch were all fully booked. The Mill was not and we experienced why not. In fact there were so many vacant tables there was no need for us to have booked. So - book a good place early and avoid this disasterous restaurant.
