At Sport in Desford we are delighted with the financial support from the Mick George Foundation. This has enabled us to complete 2 projects: Firstly we have been able to paint the surface of our double tennis court in bright Wimbledon colours which incidentally binds the tarmac, making it last longer and also has a sand additive that improves the slip resistance. Secondly we have completely renovated the Squash changing rooms installing modern power showers and toilet. Both projects have been well received by members and will provide enhanced facilities for many years to come. Jim Houghton Development Officer Sport in Desford Registered Charity: 1100319
On behalf of St. Ives Rugby Club, we are very grateful to the Mick George Community Fund for supporting our purchase of a new electronic scoreboard. The scoreboard will dramatically increase the engagement of spectators attending the matches. It will also assist referees who are frequently asked for score updates by players, which is not an easy task to achieve, mid-match. Both aspects add to the enjoyment and thus participation of players and spectators alike, who are aged from 6 to well over 60!
The Mick George Community Fund very generously donated £35,000 towards our new Kentford and Kennett Village Hall which is allowing lots of community activities to take place in 2 villages where the previous Village Hall had fallen into disrepair. We are extremely grateful for this donation.
Through the Mick George Sports Fund we received £1500 for some much needed new windows at Upwood Cricket Club. They look much better than the rotten old ones, are draught proof and are much safety. Thank you very much!
We are currently redeveloping Fernie Fields Sports and Social Club in Northampton and applied to Mick George for funding to support us in providing a storage facility that supports our community aims. The whole process was really simple and the support throughout has been fantastic. Thank you to such a wonderful organisation for supporting us and our project. Thanks The team at Fernie Fields
Grafham Water Centre delivers outdoor and adventurous activities to the young people and communities of Cambridgeshire. Through a range of residential experiences young people learn to develop resilience, improve self esteem and develop teamwork skills. Most young people that come to the Centre have the opportunity to experience mountain biking. The Mike George Community Fund has helped build an exciting skills based mountain biking circuit on our site. This is safe place for young people to experience the thrill and challenge of riding a bike. Our course is also open to the local community and those visitors that use Grafham Water. It is a great asset to have in the local community.
Mick George in association with Living Sport, very generously donated money to Hawks Netball Club so they could purchase more training equipment in order for their members to develop their skills. For a small club this aids growth and allows ladies to enjoy a sport whilst keeping fit and socialising.
St Peter's Church, Barrowden is currently being Re-ordered. We have been offered a generous grant from the Mick George Community Fund towards a new kitchen , WC and Community Meeting Room. This will help to make the church fit for the 21st Century, boost community use and make it more sustainable. We aim to have all the works completed by the beginning of May 2019. Steve Preston - Sec. to Barrowden and Wakerley PCC
Thanks to Mick George Ltd. and the grant they provided for us at Stamford Shakespeare Company, we now have a leak free roof and a wonderful newly refurbished makeup room. Many thanks
Be warned if they say 7 day skip hire you may not get 7 days. Delivered lat afternoon on Wednesday and collected 7.08am the following Wednesday, with an email at 6.38am saying they would collectect between 7.06 and 10am. They collected a half full skip and I have a van full of rubbish. Spoke to the management was friendly but just said they would improve they system but was no help to me.
