Well worth a visit to learn about how a Priory operated in the area. Our experience was really enhanced by the very knowledgeable guide Jane. Her description and demonstration of how the kitchen worked was particularly interesting. Very impressive to see a still functioning automated spit. If you are visiting, a tour with a guide around the house is very rewarding. Over 200 volunteers work here and I thank you for giving your time to allow us visitors to enjoy our time there.
We went in the week and it was very quiet. Great facilities lovely cafe, toilets, baby change. We had a rocky road cake which was very yummy and not horrifically priced. We took the pram and It was pram friendly had good disable access. The playground is quite nice. There is lots of picnic benches dotted about which is good. The house was interesting a really good exhibit and lots of useful information. The staff were lovely and friendly. The grounds were nice with a pretty garden to look around not massive. We did the Moat walk which wasn't very long and the Moat was quite overgrown. This bit not suitable for wheelchair. Price fairly expensive £11.00 per person. Now I have seen it I probably wouldn't go back. Shame there wasn't a longer walk you can do.
Nice place to go with or without kids. Lovely customer service, especially the house guide were wonderful at giving us a bit of history. Although the café staff were friendly and helpful, I just wished the service could be faster.Visited onWeekdayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNot sure

Michelham Priory is a beautiful place tucked amongst the South Downs. We were staying in Alfriston when we came across it and fell in love. 3 years later, we got married here and it was incredible! This historic place is wonderfully kept and the staff are all so friendly and helpful. I urge you to go visit and support it.Visited onWeekend
We always enjoy visiting Michelham Priory. The people are very friendly and welcoming. The cafe is really nice. The house is very interesting and the gardens are very well kept. Would definitely recommend visiting.
A nice afternoon with my husband the house has a lot of history to walk around, and beautiful gardens, we also had a cream tea.
This made for a lovely morning out for the family. The open areas of house provide a glimpse of the different uses of the house throughout history, which was a great touch. The grounds were lovely and they had archery on the law, which my child enjoyed watching. They had a small play around which we used as the garden played as a great hide and seek location. I think I'd like them to have made more of the water mill, as this seems to not be as loved as the rest of the pro, which is a shame as it was something my son had lots of questions about. Staff throughout were very friendly.
