Beautiful church interior with plenty of seats. Friendly staff and quick service. I ordered the Oreo cake £3.9, which is surprisingly filling and not too sweet. However, it’s on the dry side and I couldn’t finish my slice due to the large portion. My friend ordered a cappuccino, and the mug is very big! Had a pleasant time, particularly enjoyed the view of the stained glass from the upper floor. It wasn’t too busy when we arrived at 12:15 on a Sunday
Wow such a beautiful place to enjoy breakfast. The building was amazing. Staff were very friendly and breakfast was great. The pastries were so fresh. Portions were large. Could easily share.
Did not know this place have existed. Absolutely amazing idea! Amazing pastries and coffee. It’s a little bit more pricey but worth it! Very nice staff! Loved it! Will come back for more cakes!
I found surprising Cafe in Cambridge campus. Lemon & ginger tea is so fantastic. Cappuccino is also nice. The most satisfying factor is atmosphere and interior design.
The interiors are good. There is plenty of seating, but during lunch it is crowded with long waits. The food is like all other cafes, good but not exceptional.
Great atmosphere sitting on a padded pew at a table in this partially converted church. Great food and coffee. Service was top notch too. Would definitely recommend a visit- great selection of cakes!
Lovely location and beautiful building, however, not the best place to visit if you have an allergy and want to double check you’re safe! Took me 20 minutes to order as I had two members of staff really kind waiter and nice lady taking orders and making coffees asking about whether my meal was Dairy Free… However, the manager i assume he was the manager was getting ‘fed up’ of being asked and kept informing me he had ‘been through this’ with me and that he ‘cannot help if something happens as there is dairy in the kitchen’. I totally understand that kitchens have dairy in them, as every kitchen at every restaurant/cafe I go to… however, he acted like it was a chore and was not accommodating whatsoever! The lady at the front of house and the waiter would get 5 stars, but the manager has lost them 3 due to his attitude and lack of care. Food was gorgeous though, recommend for the food, just don’t let the manager ‘undermine’ you or have an attitude if you’re asking about an allergy/intolerance!
Been coming here for several years now, great cafe. Set in a former church with a sympathetic implementation of modern design features and materials complementing the historic building. Had a chicken and chorizo cassoulet which was so generously full of quality ingredients I wondered if the dish was clearing a profit for them. It's normally busy enough to create a good atmosphere but not so busy you feel crowded out. The seats extend into the former chancel area although that area was shut off last time I went. The setting tends to attract a more bookish demographic.
Always love such integration of cafe into buildings with history. While still keeping the purpose of the Chapel. And of course the coffee was mind blowingly good.
We really like The Michaelhouse Cafe and come here whenever we're in Cambridge. It can be really busy but you find your table first, note the number, then queue to order your food and drinks. They then bring your hot food order to your table, for you. There is often space on the balcony, up the spiral staircase and that's were we found a table this time. The stairs are quite narrow and you need to take care going up if you have a tray! I queued for quite a while... or so it felt, anyway but the service was good when you got there and everything was well organised. The food was as good as always and we enjoyed people -watching and chatting from our balcony viewpoint. 5-stars..... worth visiting, definitely! Vegetarian options: There are always veggie dishes on the daily menu. They change every day, so you can't list here. Kid-friendliness: Always able to find a high chair. Wheelchair accessibility: There is a spiral ramp down from the street.
