Mum has dementia, she was on the top floor at first and all was great staff were great then she was moved to the second floor things seemed to go downhill from then onwards. She does have poor hygiene issues with that said she has been in hospital for 2 weeks with a really bad infection under her bust and stomach which was a real mess. Which was a shock that this had not been noticed earlier. I went to visit her yesterday she was up dressed clean happy I was amazed at the change in her. My sister said she had been this way all week as I had been away. Was so happy she seemed so different. At the care home she was always in bed or not dressed, dirty finger nails and you could often see left overs round her face I could write a story on this I'm sure. I know it's hard in this kind of work but this was to bad for me and my sister to see. We decided to bring her out of there. Wouldn't mind though the cost my mum pays in full per week herself. I gave a 2 because the staff on top floor were good
My father in law was a resident for nearly 4 years, he has dementia, the place its self is lovely and the staff pleasent, he was quite happy there, but the present manager wasn't happy with him and made it clear he wanted him to leave, saying he was getting difficult even though they are supposedly equipped to deal with dementia patients, it's been upsetting for the family and not easy finding somewhere suitable for him. It's also brought to light that people in care homes have No rights.nI wouldn't recommend this home.
My mother stayed there for 10 days, she was initially assessed for the 2nd floor residential, on her arrival from hospital she was distraught and upset. I had been advised to meet her there later so I had arranged to go at teatime. Mum arrived at approx 1.30pm, at 3.30pm I received a call from the home saying that mum was distraught and wanted to leave, also that she had used the toilet and made a bit of a mess. Based on this she would have to go onto the dementia unit! She had only been there 2 hours! Prior to admission mum had suffered a stroke, the plan was for the stroke assist team to go in with a view to her going home. My mum is also self funding. I had to agree with them as mum could not go home, I was not happy, mum did settle and I tried and tried to get her off the dementia unit, she began to isolate herself and even the staff said she did not belong on that unit. Management wouldnt budge, my mum told me she hated the place. She has now been reassessed and moved, the manager at the new place said there was no way my mum should have been on a dementia unit, and it could have been detremental to her wellbeing had it gone on any longer. On her discharge many of her clothes were missing and they gave me some of someone else's medication. This home is all top show, do not be fooled by the lovely decor, it means nothing.
As you walk into the home it’s lovely to see but after working there I wouldn’t recommend anyone put their loved ones in this home.nnSome of the carers are absolutely fantastic and would go above and beyond for the service users but other carers do not care and would leave service users wet and in a mess and would rather sleep on shift than check on the service user. The staff morale in this home in very low. Never enough staff to cover nights and at times expected to work short staffed.nnThe management is shocking. Refusing to listen to any problems which you may bring up. The manager is very unapproachable. They think it’s acceotable to leave one senior carer at night to do everybody’s medication and expect you to complete this within 1 1/2 hours for 84 residents which is not practical.nnLook at the last CQC report. Requires improvement for every area. I think that says enough.nnIf you want your loved ones to be cared for properly I would personally AVOID this home due to the management and some of the carers.
The staff here are brilliant. My mum and dad have settled in here really well. It is like they are living in a high class hotel. But it is the staff and management who make this place great.
