If you bank with Merrick then you have seen like I have that they tend to NOT give good customer service. The operators seem as if they are told STEAL AS MUCH AS YOU CAN, DO THE LEAST TO HELP AND THEY WILL COME. No that is not correct. The operator put my card on not usable because he didn't thoroughly look up the actual problem. And you telling them is like not saying anything at all. I have never seen a credit card company so small minded but really wants your money to keep coming. I am getting tired of the disrespect from them. Then they do no give you a supervisor when asked instead they hang up on you promising a call that I have never received from them. The service is pathetic at best. I really wanna leave this alone.
Merrick Bank is the worst!! If I could give it zero stars, I would! I was sent a starter card in the mail to use and a month after using it I received an email saying the card I have will no longer be able to be used and they would be sending out another. That was May 2022 - NO CARD RECEIVED. Called all June, July and August and they said oh, we'll list the card as lost and sent another. You'll get it within 7-10 business days. No card was received. So, I called back in September, and they told me the same doggone thing!! 7-10 Business days. Its now January 2023 and guess what?? STILL NO CARD. They barely speak English and don't hold their word. Ridiculous fees. I swear I just want to pay off the balance and close the darn account!! Spoke with Josias today and he magically spoke with his supervisor who approved to issue a card out on rush delivery for 2-3 business days.. then again its 3-5 business days. UGH! We'll see if I receive it this time.
I have had a great experience with Merrick Bank. I have had their credit card for over two years. No problems whatsoever. Credit increases without asking, excellent customer service. This has been my experience. I should add that I always pay my bill on time and in full. I never carry a balance. Perhaps this is why I have had a good experience. Just wanted to offer a couple of tips to those experiencing problems.
After my card didn't arrive when I opened a secured credit card in July 2022, I was assured that my account was successfully closed in August 2022 when I called to cancel the card and account entirely. They waived the enrollment fee, but didn't return the deposit I had made to open the card. Now, I'm stuck waiting on long hold times to get someone on the phone. You can't even send an email through their online account system. You can only receive emails.
They changed my account information without my consent. I'm canceling my card and won't be paying them. I'm also contacting the BBB about this and the attorney general to file a formal complaint. It was a violation of the contract. They aren't getting another dime from me! Be warned!
I called Customer Service and got all the way to the Supervisor. She would not Grant me a waiver for a $19.47 cash advance fee. If I had known this, I would have never got this measly card. They said it was written on the statement and yes it was. Only a Rat could read it. They need to put it in Big Bold Letters like they due on your balance and when there Stupid Payment is due. I will be cancelling my card as well as my Husbands card. I do hope other people will follow suit as I feel I was Disrespected by the whole customer service system>
I have had my card for many years never been late or missed a payment. I havent used it in a while so i didnt realize they put a service fee on my bill. So i was 30 days late on a 12 dollar bill and they reported me to the credit agencies. So my credit dropped 49 points for a 12 dollar fee i didnt even by anything i wouldnt recommend this card to anyone
I have had the card for over two years now. I have had an excellent payment history. I called to get a lower interest rate, and was told no, it will never go down, that’s what “I agreed to “ when I accepted the card offer. I will pay it off and never use it, and I will tell others not to use this “Merrick bank!” Completely robbing from the poor!
Customer service representative Sandra #SA1 out of New York has one of the worst attitudes. She says she's a supervisor which is not good being in Customer service. They really need to make serious changes to the customer service department. Merrick bank made a HUGE error causing a drop in my score and reflecting that I have not made any payments AFTER I paid the account in full and closed July 2022. It's now almost February 2023 and I'm still seeing this on my report and another drop in fico. I've spoken with someone a month ago and was advised all in error on Merricks behalf and to give it a fee days to update and should all be resolved. Clearly that wasn't the case and here I am about to spend another entire morning arguing with People like Sandra the customer service manager out of New York. What a nightmare. If your credit allows my advice is to work with Wells Fargo, Discover, or Amex.
Crooks. I got letter in mail stating I applied for a card that I never applied for called right away to be told it was taken care of. I luckily contacted transunion and disputed it also had them freeze accout and add pin. Later got letter in mail still trying to steal my money. Called again was told went to fraud dept and not to worry it be taken care of. This originally started around November from my understanding and now it almost April they send letter saying they would not fix situation cause it is my personal information on file. I called transunion they said you can clearly see on report account was froze at that time and how wrong and horrible of them not to comply. So they sending me info on my account has been flagged for fraud and if they don't comply I should reach out to irs and have them investigate my problem and their company. HORRIBLE I CANT BELIEVE THEY ARE ALLOWED TO EVEN HAVE A BUSINESS
