I have been attending the Mercury Theatre for around 8 years and recently visited with my 6-year-old daughter to see Father Christmas. At the end of the story, children are invited to meet Father Christmas and receive a gift.nAn elf was organising the queue by alternating between the right-hand and left-hand sides. Based on this system, my daughter should have been fourth. However, we were skipped, and all the children on the right-hand side were taken first. When I believed it was finally my daughter’s turn, the elf ignored us and instead asked the family next to us to go ahead. That family kindly pointed out that they thought it was actually my daughter’s turn.nThe elf had engaged warmly with the children before us, asking their names and chatting with them. My daughter was the only child who was treated differently, and the only noticeable difference was her skin colour. This was upsetting and disappointing, especially during what should have been a magical experience for a young child.nI hope the Mercury Theatre reflects on this and ensures all children are treated equally and fairly in the future.
Mother Goose was glorious. A firm family favourite. Hugely entertaining and utterly professional. Really great value for money. Every seat has a great view of the stage. Staff are delightful. The only minor downside is the access!
You will not be disappointed! Most likely the BEST panto I have ever seen! We did not stop laughing from start to finish! Amazing! Amazing storyline, songs, graphics, stage, actors! Wow, wow, wow!! I wish I could go again x
Lovely comfortable seats and positioned so that you look over the heads Infront of you. Lovely cafe serving a variety of food. Great coffee always a bonus. The staff were all lovely and very friendly. Can't wait to visit again.
My first visit to the Mercury Theatre exceeded expectations.nThe auditorium has raked seats ensuring that you get a clear view of the stage without having to peer around the heads of people in the rows in front of you, although the seats are a little narrow.nThe performance that I saw was slick, professional and the acoustics were very good. The actors could be heard clearly.nThere is a café and bar onsite and, an added bonus for the ladies, the toilets were plentiful, unlike in London where you all have to queue for two or three toilets.nParking at St Mary's car park was easy and only a few minutes walk to the theatre.nI'll definitely be visiting again.
