If visiting Bridgwater or the surrounding area, this is a great place. We stayed there over Christmas time. Nice rooms, black out curtains, thick windows and sound proofing is amazing, nice big comfortable bed and modern amenities. Security at desk is good and you need a card to enter building and to use lifts.
We booked to stay at this hotel to meet up with our special friends for an overnight stay.nWe had great service from check in to check out the next day. All the staff were friendly and helpful. A special shout out to an amazing young lady called 'Gracy' who provided us with great service and attention, she was so friendly and professional, a real credit to the hotel!nParking at the hotel was easy, the rooms were lovely, and it is a short walk to the town center.nWe had a 3 course set meal in the 'Marco Pierre White' restaurant in the hotel and the food was amazing!nI would recommend this hotel, and would stay there again.
The hotel itself is lovely, and the food—especially breakfast—was beautiful. However, I did notice a few hygiene and service issues that could be improved. In the evening, some of the chefs were serving food with their hands, then touching their hair or wiping their noses with the back of their hands, which wasn’t very reassuring. One waitress also had long hair that wasn’t tied back.nnService varied quite a bit. One table nearby had been waiting a long time to be served before we were even seated, yet we received our drinks and starters quickly. Staff training could definitely be more consistent. That said, one evening waitress—with red hair and piercings—was absolutely amazing: friendly, efficient, and professional. The others could learn a lot from her.nnAt breakfast, the waitress of Oriental appearance was also fantastic—very attentive, efficient, and helpful. On Saturday morning, when I asked another waitress for boiled eggs, she simply told me to ask the chef myself, but no chef was around. Thankfully, the excellent waitress stepped in and took care of it for me.nnBoth mornings I requested hard-boiled eggs, but they were overdone and had black centres. Aside from that, the breakfast overall was delicious, and the quality of the food was excellent.nnAnother issue in the room the fridge did not work room 112 I did not report it as we didn't want to be disturbed.nnCharge for parking £10 a night I find steep and unnecessary.
Stayed last year for 1 night and had a good experience so decided to revisit for birthday weekend and this time it wasn't so great. We upgraded to the privilege room and the bed was so hard and uncomfortable. The room smelled of mildew. On the first night we ordered the steak and mine came out blue although asked for medium rare as that was the recommended. It was unedible and even the FOH staff was shocked by it. They gave us our drinks 2 for free to say sorry even though they took ages to bring them. Breakfast on the first morning was standard nothing special. Although they could have prepped their food better. The nicest bit of it was the sausages. Also disappointed that they didn't use Marco Pierre whites hash browns though and used standard frozen ones. Would have expected better. The staff and food on the second night was a bit better and the manager took time to see to us and make sure everything was ok. Noticed one of the kitchen staff were on the phone alot and didn't see any of them wearing gloves but were touching foods, hair, phones, face and not washing their hands after. Not the standard you would expect to find. Breakfast next morning was the same. Standard. For what we paid I wouldn't expect that level of service
Hotel was well positioned neat the centre of town with plenty of onsite parking although having to pay for parking was not great - £9.50 per night. Comfortable rooms and friendly staff on hand to help. Facilities were good and the food from the bar snack menu was delicious and reasonably priced. Only let down was the rooms were not cleaned each day and despite providing bottles of water in the fridges that should have been topped up each day I had to go down to reception to get the bottles filled up. Overall an enjoyable stay and would stay again in the future.
