We entered the hotel with absolute fear, we've never stayed in a hotel with our dogs before, ever. We were greeted with smiles at the check-in desk, given loads of information about walks for our dogs, breakfast forms for us,we knew beforehand they aren't allowed in the restaurant. Room service is available for both breakfast and other meals, we ate dinner at a local pub.I chose to eat breakfast in the room, husband ate in the restaurant. Room was very spacious and there were bowls for feeding and watering the dogs. We took our own dog beds and we all slept brilliantly. Breakfast in the room was delicious, breakfast in the restaurant was delicious, we all left for Cornwall feeling rested. And a huge thank you for taking all that fear of staying in a hotel away.nStaff were fab, room was fab, bathroom was lush,we got free parking included.
Overall a very good stay. I would have given 10 plus marks if it wasn’t for the lumpy pillows and a mattress protector that needed changing. Everything else was top notch. The breakfast was fantastic as was the set evening meal menu. The staff were all outstanding, very friendly and welcoming, and I think if we had an issue it would be quickly rectified. We'd certainly come back, despite there not being a lot to do in Bridgwater itself.
The hotel is lovely inside and the rooms are very nice but is surrounded by roadworks. It was also very difficult to find the parking as the road into the car park is closed. I didn’t feel safe walking in the area around the hotel after dark. The reception desk is just a table in the entrance, there are no signs to say it is the reception and the receptionists were not interacting with people entering the hotel. I had to ask in a private office to eventually find it, the receptionists were very helpful once I found them.nnI am vegan, the breakfast options were very limited, the hot buffet had beans and tomatoes. I could request sausages and I also had to request bread because all of the buffet bread had milk in it. There was also some fruit and cereal. There was enough to make do but it wasn’t a good experience and certainly not 4 star in my opinion.nnWe came into the hotel through the side entrance to drop our key off before leaving and the disabled toilet had a large poo sitting in the middle of the floor which was a really unpleasant experience.nnNote : The manager has responded to say that they have vegan hash browns but the ones on the buffet were labelled as containing milk and the chef confirmed this and didn’t offer any vegan replacement.
Really enjoyed our 3 night b&b stay. The staff are both efficient and pleasant and the breakfast is very good. The guy in the restaurant who takes table numbers and seems to do everything else too is lovely but I would think needs some help as too much for one person
We had a fantastic six-night stay at the Mercure Hotel in Bridgwater on a half-board basis, and everything exceeded our expectations. The rooms were clean and comfortable, and the location was perfect for exploring Somerset.nnA big thank you to Josh, the restaurant manager, and the entire restaurant team, who looked after our group of 8 with great care and attention every evening. The food was consistently excellent — well-cooked, varied, and beautifully presented. Their friendliness and professionalism really made our stay feel special.
