Great food and friendly staff ... bonus is sitting outside on a beautiful evening.Food: 5/5
We came for brunch last weekend and I'm giving it a solid 4. Our server was lovely but didn't come back and check on us once food had arrived. I had to ask another staff member to find her to order another margarita. Nachos we're supposed to have chili beef but couldn't see nor taste beef only beans. Eggs Benedict was pretty good. Would go back but a 4 not a 5. UPDATE. We come here all the time. 5 stars, always welcoming and friendly. Food always good. Fantastic margaritas
My friend invited me to have dinner with him after going to an exhibit at the FIT museum. We sat outside and enjoyed a delicious meal at Merchants. American fare, the menu essentially featured elevated pub dishes. We ordered the cheesy truffle potato wedges although I didn't taste any truffle flavor. Maybe it was in the bacon aioli? I don't eat pork so I requested a Sriracha aioli instead., avocado fries and carne asada tacos. For dessert we ordered the sour cream apple walnut pie which comes from the Little Pie company. If you've never had this before, don't walk, run and try it. To wash everything down, we ordered two cocktails: spiked lemonade and the southern bourbon peach tea. Although the spiked lemonade was good, I found the southern bourbon peach tea to be bitter. It was basically unsweetened peach iced tea with bourbon. I enjoy bourbon. However this was not my idea of a tasty cocktail. Overall the food was high quality and the service was good.
Coming from a restaurant background. I will say that some of the staff are slightly unprofessional. Or rather just "lazy" within the workplace. The host poured himself and a customer a drink and proceeded to sit down two tables down from my partner and I. I decided not to order food beyond my nachos for two reasons. One being that my nachos happen to be burnt. The other is my waiter not only didn't return to my table but just walked in a circle around the bar. I'm going to clarify that the time was around 8:30~ on a Tuesday night. Definitely not a peak hour for this type of place. I would've ordered more food if only my waiter had walked anywhere near my table I don't believe I have to yell across the room to grab their attention. The buildings lights were very dim on the inside but overall the place was a good atmosphere. The staff could use a little more attentiveness. Especially if the nachos are going to be $16.00 all just to come burnt to my table. I can't say the food was terrible based off one dish however the staff seem to be a little distant minded at times. Hope this helps
I had the Pan seared Salmon in Shittake Mushroom Broth. Boy was that good! The broth was aHHH AMAZING! So good I had to order some extra bread that was good and it was 2.50 to sop up the rest of that glorious broth on the salmon! I was low key considering ordering another order but I figured that would be greedy... The pasta was fine, but not as good as the salmon. A bit of a tangy taste but it was good, just not GREAT like my salmon dish was. Service was in point and perfect. No complains there at all. When we popped in, not many ppl were there. One table with about 5 ppl and they were finishing and another table with 2 and they were done, just talking. I'd def come back here though to order that salmon in mushroom broth, it was HEAVENLY.
Merchants NY is known for its creative cocktails at late hours. Their weekend brunch is a steal for daytime folks. Their food and drinks are good, and the service is fast. Whether it's dining with friends to catch up and on dates, they offer pleasant dining experiences indoor or outdoor.
Love Merchants. A chill, laidback great dining experience. The staff is wonderful, the owner is wonderful and the food is good. It’s perfectly located on 7th avenue between 22nd and 21st. It’s never overly crowded in a good way. I love the bathrooms! Individual bathrooms that are very clean. And, my favorite part is the back section. This are can be reserved for special occasions and is just really cool and eclectic. All of the sudden, you don’t feel like you’re in NYC. It’s an awesome lounge, but you have to see if for yourself to really get it. I definitely recommend this place. Comfort food.
I had the cheesebuger. It was fantastic, the burger was cooked so well medium and tasty. My friend had the pasta and said that was delicious too. Service was excellent, prices were reasonable for NYC. Would not hesitate to go back there again when I'm in New York next.
Sat at the bar last night pleasantly crowded for 10p on St. Patrick’s and had some really surprisingly good cocktails for not-a-stuffy-exclusive-hidden-under-the-ground-with-a-password cocktail bar. The strawberry Negroni was my favorite - a very slightly sweet, springy, tingly, effervescent twist on my go-to cocktail… and there’s a real strawberry inside of the ice cube! We had to order two of these and I’ll be back for another two to show my bartender partner. The blackberry bramble was deliciously herbal and even less sweet than the Negroni. I loved the spicy kick and the salt rim on what looks like it’s going to be a whole smoothie. I love surprise contradictions in food and drink : And finally the Chelsea Star with passion fruit purée and whole side of Prosecco took me home with its mouth watering tartness. I don’t usually go for fruity cocktails but these managed to bring out the nuances of fruit flavor without drowning them out in a cloying dose simple syrup. And the bartender was very nice, informative, and made everything expertly!
Service is spectacular! It's a hidden gem much larger than appears. The chicken quesadilla is my fav. Brunch offerings are well priced and tasty! I love to sit outside and watch Chelsea go by!Food: 5/5
